Its a shame too because the copy is otherwise right below mint with only minor edge wear. The vinyl itself is mint.

Not quite. Chumlee wasn't quite smart enough to ask Dylan to sign only his name. He asked Dylan to make it out to Chumlee, destroying any value in getting the signature in the first place!

I was talking about East's previous owner, not Chumlee.

Ah,yes, which is what led me to posting the Chumlee video in the first place.

No, pleasing the wrong person is SOP. This is a descendant of the Mutthaboards, after all.

I was doing some looking around at subs (Outlaw, Hsu, etc.) and saw that while prices have gone up across the board for Vandersteen, their subs have gone up the least. I could still pick up their V2W (which is their only sub with line level inputs) for around $1500. Then I would have Vandersteens across the board.

Oh, the things we tempt ourselves with . . .

Now you've gone and done it!

Have you checked out Black Keys' latest, El Camino? Unfortunately, they've abandoned a lot of their blues sound in this album. It sounds more like 70s rock infused with a little British invasion, and it's quite fast. And while they retain the garage sound, it's obvious that the sound is synthesized in a studio and not a result of recording in a basement or abandoned warehouse. It's not bad, but I'm not sure I'm digging it. It appears that as the Black Keys gain popularity and become more mainstream that I care less for their music. To me, Magic Potion and Chulahoma were their highlight releases. I'm happy they're doing well, but I think I preferred them Indie.

I have not picked it up yet, but I was reading about it and apparently Attack and Release came damned close to going Platinum, which is rare for a rock album nowadays. So while I would be happy if they stuck to their roots, there is not doubt that going that direction is making them more successful. I still do not have Chulahoma and would probably prioritze that first.

Attack and Release is a close third for me. I quite enjoy some of the songs on that album, and I ought to reach for it more.

Chulahoma is technically an EP, but I think you'd enjoy. Well worth picking it up.

Well, we will be in the Twin Cities today but I doubt that I will have time to do any disc shopping. We are taking my parents and making the haul to the other side of the metropolitan area to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol in true Imax -- and that theatre is one of the 36 in the country that will be showing the prologue for The Dark Knight Rises first. After that, another haul back to our side of the Twin Cities to cash in a couple of gift certificates at an Italian place we have never tried.

Fun. Ghost Protocol was spectacular, especially in Imax. (They shot over a half hour of the film in the Imax format, including the amazing stuntwork outside the world's tallest building in Dubai.) It was directed by Brad Bird, who previously had directed Ratatouille, The Incredibles and The Iron Giant. Not a lot of animation directors make the leap to live action successfully, but Bird acquits himself nicely. The movie is witty, stylish and has action scenes that are clear and coherent, with nary a trace of shakey cam in sight. Bird needs to direct a Bond movie!

I will not say much about The Dark Knight Rises prologue, other than "Wow." My only complaint is the common one that Bane's dialogue is completely incomprehensible, which supposedly is on purpose, but I surely hope that they change that by the time the movie is released. Other than that, it was a jaw-dropping introduction to the character.

A pretty decent veal saltimbocca for dinner, too!

Glad to hear about Ghost Protocol. I was wondering if this next installment would be any good. Glad, also, to hear about Dark Knight. Again, I was a little worried.

Re: El Camino - I have listened to the album four times now. It's growing on me a bit more, but is still not my favourite. I still prefer old Black Keys.

How do you feel about Nolan opting to wrap things up in a trilogy?

Happy as a clam. It is best not to drag the series out with diminishing returns. That hardly ends the saga, of course, as Warner Brothers will doubtless make more films, as long as they are profitable. But anything that follows will be yet another reboot, and there really is nothing wrong with that. In essence, the comics are rebooted everytime a new writer and artist joins the mix, and there is no reason why new writers and directors cannot do the same thing with the films.

By the way, there appears to be no footage from the prologue in that trailer.
