Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
I am going to do some parts swapping when I get a chance, but I have around a week left at home so it's going to get shelved till i get back home. Getting ready to put my 55 Chevy Gasser project under the car port and do some work on it.
That E-check was canceled today, I had a feeling it was going to be. The buyer had a feed back of 1 and it was from a guy that had a feed back of -1, lol. So it looks like I will be re-listing it soon.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
The 55 Gasser sounds like a fun project. I would like to build an older car (I have tossed around the idea of a 55, A 69 Camaro or a 65' G.T.O. for a while now) but it seems that they are too desirable to be affordable even the rough ones seem to sell for 10k.
If I ever got a 55 it would be hard to fight the urge to build a TLB clone. I would probably end up cloning the car itself and doing a show quality grey paint finish. Maybe airbrush the weathered effects under the clear coat

Dam East why don't you live closer, lol. I could show you were all kind of cars are in the bushes. About half of the ones I know of have disappeared over the years though, lots of people have been looking for them down the back roads.

Very nice project collection. It looks like the m855 was just relisted with a bad graphics card

I will be rebidding for the plastics provided it stays low enough. (Well that may depend what happens with the eden tonight so we will see)
With that color primer it reminds me of plum wild. Ah, Here we are:

I have seen the TLB site. You have got to love the way the m22 screams behind the 454. I actually think I posted about the restoration of that car some time before you joined up. (Unless i'm going crazy it should be around here somewhere)

ADOR: That is quite the collection!
When restoring a classic, do you feel it's best to keep everything as close to original spec as possible, or is it okay to upgrade some key parts and sacrifice originality for the performance boost (e.g., upgrading the suspension, transmission and installing disc brakes)?

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
I think that question depends on the car. For instance if I had a 65 GTO that was a numbers matching big block car I would want it with the original brakes and suspension. (Maybe a tad suicidal having drum brakes with that much power ) If I had a lemans on the other hand that would be totally different. I would clone it into a big block GTO and put all modern parts on it.

I like to keep the main body lines and the interior close to stock, but I do like to upgrade. I was in a wreck in my red 67 mustang. A guy ran a stop sign and I hit him in the side, the drum brakes didn't cut it. IF I would of had disks I might of made it, it was close. Just some things to me aren't worth keeping. Now if I found a all numbers matching car in perfect shape I might upgrade it, BUT all the parts I took off would be put up and stored properly. I have seen some cars tried to be kept so original that you can't enjoy them, and enjoying them is what it is about.
East GOOD LUCK on the Auction. If you can't mess with that orange one or if it goes too high let me know, I may get it and put it up for later.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
That eden ended up selling for $500 + Shipping. Somebody seriously over paid given what was missing.
Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
I was watching it end, then looked away then BAM it was at 500, dam, I would of paid 450 for that first rage that sold before I would of paid that much for it in that condition.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
East: something seems funny about that orange voodoo. The guy who has it has just sent me a message wanting to trade a tablet I have up for sale. I didn't ask him anything since I had got more pictures of it from the other guy. He only has a feed back of 4. The guy who put it up first has a feedback of 30. It sold on the 22nd and the other guy left feed back on the 24th saying it had came in. I don't see it being shipped from door to door in two days with economy shipping.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
Your right, Its possible but not likely. I thought the winner of the other orange one had 4 feedback as well? I will have to check. I see that you put the first bid. He could simply be looking to trade it for a working laptop but I would be careful.
Well long story short the head spring snapped on my old qjr-3250 and snap on no longer makes replacements but they agreed to replace it with a brand new qd3r250 free of charge. If that's not a testament to snap on's customer service I don't know what is.

No the buyer did indeed have 4 feedback. I would not trade him. Keep it via ebay/paypal that way if he scams you paypal will step in.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
That it does. Fortunate for me I only need the optical drive and maybe the plastics if the paint is in decent shape (and the same shade) to finish up my m855 project. (It needs a hard drive too, if that one is still in ok shape it will do nicely) Since I did not get the eden I will watch this.
I am not entirely satisfied with the way the i222 turned out today. I got the replacement screen from a w5f but the w5f screen is a slightly different aspect ratio (and higher resloution) I got it working well and all but it looks funny partly obscured by the voodoo's lcd bezel.
I will have to post a picture. Other then that its looking good. The guy decided to include the hinge covers I have been looking everywhere for. I decided not to bother painting them though as they are already silver and match the black and silver 2 tone.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
I did drop 5 dollar bid on it, but that was it. With the video bad all you could really salvage is what you want East, the board. I wasn't really thinking of swapping him, just what he messaged me. Now if it was some one in person I might do it as I am not really all that attached to the LE1600 got it to see if I liked it, and since I have a toughbook dual core tablet now I don't need it.

That is my auction for what he was wanting. If you ever see the name Safjist_Nipnog it is probably me. Old dungeon and dragons name I used. But I know at least one person besides me used it. A friend of mine was on everquest years ago and seen it and thought it was me. Don't know who was using my trade mark name, i never played everquest, can't be original anymore, lol.
If you see anything on ebay I have you want let me know, I will mark it down for you.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
Will do.
How does that asus xg station work? It looks like an interesting concept.
Well here are the pictures as I promised.
I am quite satisfied with the exception of the bezel cutting off the top and bottom of the image. I guess that's the price you have to pay to upgrade to a higher resolution screen.
The original battery is absent from the photos because when plugged in it becomes very hot and does not charge (defective)

Looks good east. The xg station shoves in a express card slot and to a external box, then the external box houses a external video card ( factory was a 8800gt, desktop card) then plugs into a external monitor.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
Thats quite interesting. I take it the laptop does not post to it though and its initialized after the system boots into the operating system? (The express card version anyway)
I went ahead and upgraded the i222 to a gigabyte GN-WI01HT while I had it open. I can not say enough good things about that cards range. Sure it might reduce battery run time a bit but that can be compensated for by switching off the wifi radio when not in use.
Thankfully most manufactures have not followed lenovos example and started locking out wifi cards. Seriously if every wifi card that is made is made to fcc standards then of what business is it of the laptop manufacture what card I decide to use?

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
East, On your i222 what to you do to change the look of the OS to a more voodoo style? I got one of the old voodoo transformation pack and I know you have plenty of backgrounds lol. For xp theme change I have always like Zune theme where the start button is orange and the everything else is blacked out, then there is Luna where it blacks everything out. Both official Microsoft themes.

Re: U703 / U709 Rebuild
For the start menu on my voodoo's I usually use luna. On my old desktop I use to use royal noir. At the end right before I built the voodoo I took it one step further and was using royal noir remixed and a patched uxtheme.dll. (That desktop had more of a blue theme going though)
This is the start menu I want to design for lago's rage when I get it:
I will remove all of the text and that will become the task bar area. The logo and voodoo text will act as the start button. When you hover over the start button the eyes will glow just like on the old website. It should look nice with my box wallpaper if I ever finish it
(Don't mind the blurriness I had to do that in mspaint because I didn't get around to loading anything else yet)
If you want a full skin you can find that voodoo pc my colors one that was done after the hp acquisition although admittedly I always liked the classic stuff better. This is what it looks like on the K with a custom wallpaper:
Also do you have the icons and system information info? OEM.ini and OEM.bmp?
To my knowledge there were 3 icon dlls made although 2 appear to be the same to me
voodooicons.dll
voodoo-icons.dll
voodoo-vista.dll
I am using a custom made voodoo game doctor icon for steam. It needs the shadow fixed or removed but other then that it dose not look half bad.
I would have uploaded the original but image shack dose not like .ico.

Hey East I found the restore disk from voodoo for the M855, while digging around looking for things to sell on ebay. I also have the kiosken folder with benchmarks I hate to let go of it(but I might).
