Yes, that might help. One of my favourite superhero moments was when Batman handed Superman his ass in The Dark Knight Returns.

Amazon listed them as in stock, so I ordered all three. We shall see if they actually ship. Thank you, by the way, for costing me another $84!

You'll thank me even more once you have the albums in hand.

There is an amazing moment in the three-part episode World's Finest from the Superman animated series when Batman visits Metropolis to track down the Joker, and gets into a confrontation with Superman -- and unashamedly "cheats" to win:

They shipped today. That answers the "in stock" question.

My discs also shipped today, which was a surprise. I should have them Monday or Tuesday.

I'm having a problem viewing your flash video. Can you provide a link?

Except that they are not enemies! Throwing down an achilles heel at your enemies is one thing, but doing it to your reluctant accomplice is a bit more edgy.

Another awesome twist that they pulled in World's Finest was having the Joker's assistant Harley Quinn and Lex Luthor's assistant Mercy Graves take an instant dislike to each other -- violently so, in a few cases. Great stuff.

Throwing Superman across the room, on the other hand, was just for his own amusment.

I will have to collect some articles for you and post them. Have you seen the pictures of Hardy in his Bane costume yet? The most interesting recent comment from Nolan was that the movie takes place several years after the ending of The Dark Knight. Given the way that film ends, I was not expecting that. On the other hand, it does give them some flexibility to deal with the loss of Heath Ledger's Joker.

I also wasn't aware of the time gap. That is interesting and will allow for some interesting character development on the Bruce Wayne and Batman side.

I have not seen any photographs of Bane.

Hmmm. The photograph you posted is interesting in a menacing sort of way. Some of the other ones I just looked up (and the one in the article you linked to) don't do it for me quite as much. In some, Bane almost looks goofy, not menacing. Still looking forward to the movie, though.

The full costume in the pictures seems a bit odd, but I am going to give Nolan the benefit of the doubt about it -- the first photographs of The Joker in the last one seemed off, but boy did it work in the final film.

Not that it really matters, but we can move the discussion of the Vaughan discs back to this thread as we get a chance to do more detailed listening.

I am going to have to wait until later in the week to do more critical listening. Have you tried "Little Wing"?

I've listened to them all now. While I love "Little Wing"--it is one of my favourite songs, as an album, I like In Step for general listening.

Well, The Sky is Crying is not really an album so much as a collection of outtakes/unused tracks, so it lacks cohesiveness. Many of those tracks were recorded in the sessions for the previous albums but left off precisely because they did not fit. But I was talking about pure sonic joy, and for that "Little Wing" still stands out. As does "Tin Pan Alley," of course. Mind you, on SACD one of the highlights is the intro to "Couldn't Stand the Weather." The decay on the cymbals sounds much better and more analogue-like.
