My ALienWare experience or Adventure
Well Orginally ordered a M11X and it was way too small. So after one day of use I returned it. Finally got credited and purchased the M14x I was torn between the NP8150 and M14x. The biggest deciding factor was the keyboard, the wifey has a samsung laptop with the same type of keyboard as the NP8150 and hate it. The M14x might not have a powerful video card, but it has a good enough power that will last me for the next two years.. Main games I will be playing are BattleField3 and StarsWares The Old Republic... to continued I need to leave now. haha

Sounds like some nice specs. I applaud you for your patience in ordering from their miserable website! Out of curiousity, given the Dell ownership, what was the level of crapware on it?

I would have to agree their website sucks, everything on the M14x was maxed out except for the HDD, couldn't see the logic +400 dollars for an SSD and +130 dollars for 750gb HDD.
One of the main reasons I went with the M14x was it's portability and it packs a punch. I also looked at Asus g53 models, but again the keyboard kills it for me.
The M14x was ordered on Dec 11th and scheduled to arrive dec 15th. I was able to have them expedite the build and over nite delivery for free(I'm sure I paid for it thou).
The only thing is I hope I don't regret the Nebula Red ....hahahahaha

Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
I briefly toyed with an SSD for the operating systm and a larger standard drive for every thing else, but it is absolutely not worth the money. I put a pair of 500gb drives in mine (also letting the 750gb drives go.)
So was there any crapware/bloatware preloaded?

I have still been looking at used M11X's mainly R1's because of still having VGA out and manual switch to swap graphics. Let us know what you think on the compare.

Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
to my surprise I got a FedEx saturday delivery. Dec 17th.
Make a Long story short the wifey won't let me open until Christmas. WTF. I didn't want to argue so I let it be. Her reasoning, we should all open our presents on Christmas WTF I've been buying this since November. Oh well. Like the Great Al Bundy once said, "Can't live with them, Can't shoot'em..."
I was able to take some pics of the box at least. My goofy review to come soon....not soon enough.
Here are the Laptops I took a look at and it all came down to the keyboard.
-Hp Envy14
-Np8150
-Envy17 way to big
-Lenovo z575
-lenovo z470

Not much of a present when you had to pay for it!
Anyone want to start a pool on whether or blur's Alienware box is still unopened prior to Christmas?

Sure. That one could go either way. Does blur give into temptation or is he swayed into submissive behaviour through fear of retribution should he open the box? Pandora once faced such a dilemma.

And if he opens it early, does that mean that she will pay more attentions to what he is using it for?

Tough bet to take, since I would have to bet against it! I say that he will make it until Thursday, but no later.

Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
I'm going to have confidence in Blur and say that he makes it through to Christmas Day. I know, it's a long bet, and that assumes he makes it through Christmas Eve, which is also a Saturday. Oh dear!

Mind you, he still has other options for clandestine internet surfing, so anything is possible.
