New Phone
I am getting a new phone and am thinking of going with Verizon and getting the DROID X by Motorola, does anyone have an opinion about that phone? I was thinking about getting an iphone 4 but AT&T does not have the best reception and quality.

Re: New Phone
I have no experience with the phone, but I know that it has only received mixed reviews. Maybe look at those reviews and see what the cons are and whether or not those cons matter to you. Often times, I find reviewers dock points because a product lacks a feature that I couldn't care less about.

I agree with the last part emphatically. Always read reviews with your own needs in mind.
I am T-Mobile, so no Droids here . . .

Re: New Phone
The phone is very good, but drains the battery quickly.
Android OS is very solid and the Droid X has all the perks with plenty of screen, features, etc. Check out Endgadget or Gizmodo for your full review.

RE: the Droid X, funniest thing I heard someone say was something like; ...but why does it have to look like a late '80s Texas Instruments calculator?
I've been using the HTC Incredible on Verizon for a while, battery life is a little lack luster (but I think that can be said for most Android phones out there), otherwise no complaints.

Re: New Phone
I intend to stick with T-Mobile, but the thing that frustrates me about them is that I have wanted to upgrade my phone for nearly a year, but they never quite seem to have a good enough phone available -- so I am still waiting. I thought that the HD2 would be the one, but then I found out that it is not upgradable to Windows Phone 7. I would not mind giving Android a shot, but none of their Android phones are powerful enough.

Re: New Phone
I've "toyed" with an HD2, it's a very nice smartphone. The Samsung Vibrant, an Android phone, isn't too bad spec wise (although I've read the interface is not as nice as some other Android phones).
I'd wait if possible, the holiday season is coming, ...something new is bound to drop.

Re: New Phone
Well, Windows Phone 7 itself is dropping by the holidays. If I stick with Windows, I would not want to buy a phone before it does -- development for older versions of Windows Mobile is going to plummet after that.

Re: New Phone
I buy a phone that allows me to (wait for it . . .) place and receive calls. I know, it's a novel concept. Money I save on upgrading phones allows me to upgrade watches, which I fully admit is equally frivolous.

Re: New Phone
I use my smartphone far more for its smartphone/internet functions than I do for making calls. Eve and I have an unlimited family plan, and she ends up using some 2000-2500 minutes every month (hence the unlimited plan.) I rarely use more than 200.

Re: New Phone
Holy cow Iago!!!
Like you, I barely use my phone. I think last month I used 84 minutes ... But almost a gig of data and that's just email and 'net surfing ... Since so much is blocked at work, it's my Internet lifeline!!

Re: New Phone
Without checking, I think my "numbers" are very similar. I use a lot more data than voice these days.
Re: New Phone
I always talk for less than 200 minutes a month, but I spend about the same time checking the time on my watch.

Being one for conciseness, I would have bolded the word pedantic had it appeared; I settled for irony instead.
