Yes, but Seajunior can go to that movie, so not so much of an obstacle!

Re: Cabin in the Woods
Seajunior was asking me who is my favourite Avenger. Without getting into discussions around the original Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man, Wasp and Hulk) and the various groupings since, we stuck to the superheroes who will be in the movie: Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury and Maria Hill.
He likes Thor, which is probably the character I care for the least. (He also mentioned Wolverine, which is cool, since he recognizes that there are other characters that do make up the Avenger team in the larger Marvel universe.) My favourites in the upcoming film include Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye. I tried to explain that I liked these three because none of them have superpowers; they are just highly skilled in other ways. I also like the actors playing the characters. Black Widow gets bonus points for obvious reasons . . . .
Thor is a favourite for the little man because of his almighty power, which I can respect and appreciate. I've just always liked those heroes who had to work at being superheroes. That's why I've always preferred Batman to Superman. Incidentally, my old man prefers Superman, so it seems that I'm in the minority.

Re: Cabin in the Woods
Marvel once had an unofficial ranking of their entire canon by power and Thor was #1 because, well, he is a god after all. I was never a huge fan of Thor in the comics, but I really loved the movie version; it was probably one of my favorite Marvel films since at least the original Iron Man.
I also always preferred Batman to Superman, though Superman has grown on me over the years. There have been many good runs where they did interesting things with the character. Actually, when I was younger I unsurprisingly preferred Marvel to DC (like most kids) but as I have aged the balance has shifted, primarily due to Batman becoming my favorite comic character. Thank the animated series for pushing me in that direction.

I've tended in the same direction as I've gotten older. Generally speaking, DC explores darker story elements than Marvel, which is another reason why DC gets my vote. Speaking of which, if you have not already, you need to check out the Sandman series.
I never saw the unofficial ranking. However, I thought there were arguments that Hulk is actually stronger, since his power increases as he becomes more and more enraged. And what of Juggernaut? Yes, I know both Hulk and Thor have defeated Juggernaut, but Batman has beaten Superman, so overall power doesn't always win out!

Re: Cabin in the Woods
I am sure the reason that Marvel kept that list to themselves was precisely to prevent that kind of argument!
By the way, Maria Hill was indeed in The Avengers, though not surprisingly in a very small part. Hell, Jenny Agutter was in it, and when I saw her name in the closing credits I still could not figure out what she played until I looked it up on IMDB. Harry Dean Stanton even has a cameo for some reason, though you will not miss that one!
I have read a few Sandman books but never a whole series of them. I will give them a try some time. I did start picking up Frank Miller's Sin City books one volume at a time and have been enjoying them.

Re: Cabin in the Woods
Dodging? Yes, I'm guilty. I have an upcoming exam in a week for which I am ill prepared. I've been working like to crazy to get myself up to speed. We will see. The smarter thing to do is to probably defer, but I hate giving up and I don't want to set myself back schedule-wise.
Speaking of movies to see, I saw the trailer for Piranha 3DD. Hey, no one said a movie has to be good for it to be fun:

Yeah, not sure about that one. They changed directors from Alexander Aja, who did a surprisingly good job in the first one by keeping it tongue-in-cheek without seeming cheesy. The cheese factor in that trailer appears rather magnified.

Uh huh.
So not only have you skipped Cabin in the Woods, but you still have yet to take SeaJunior to The Avengers? Some parenting, that!

When in doubt, cheat.
You are going to be seriously out of touch -- Prometheus opens next weekend, and The Dark Knight Rises comes shortly after that! Damn you for prioritizing schoolwork!
