Re: Minnesota
Mine said I'd do well as a domestic farmer or a deep sea welder. Go figure that one out.

Re: Minnesota
my career testing said sculptor or forest ranger (basically anything that worked alone) since testing suggested I did better without dealing with people, so of course I teach now.

Re: Minnesota
Ah, now you are reminding me of Malcolm in the Middle again. Malcolm was looking for some idea where his life should be going so he took the testing and the guidance counsellor told him that the results said that he was perfectly suited for anything at all. Malcolm was miffed and said that was ridiculous and he needed more direction. The guidance counsellor got pissed off and said, "That's too bad, Mr. Perfect-at-Anything. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to take my cheap plastic briefcase and go to my second job."
That raises the eternal question: when guidance counsellors take that testing, does it tell them that they are ideally suited to be guidance counsellors?

Re: Minnesota
I checked, and sadly the first season was released on DVD over seven years ago, with none released after that. Kind of like WKRP -- I think that the season one set for that is all that we will ever see. Pits. You can buy season ninety-seven of every crappy show out there, but not the ones that I like.

Well, in a thread about Minnesota, your first version will probably suffice. We is not the most grammatically correct peoples.

Re: Minnesota
The "I took a cab from Burnseville" near the top is a similar classic. Popeye's was running a deal on chicken and since there is only one Popeye's in the Twin Cities, people drove from a long ways away -- including someone who apparently thought saving a couple dollars on chicken was worth cab fare from the suburbs.
Also, check out the Uncle Burnsie's The Night Before Christmas. That was their parody of Coach Burns (who coached the Vikings after Bud Grant retired.) Burns had a mouth. (There is a link about halfway down titled "Coach Burns" that has a bleeped version of Burnsie's infamous news conference when he completely lost it. Actually, listen to that first and the Night Before Christmas parody will make more sense!)

Re: Minnesota
Indeed. Actually, I tried the "Cab from Burnsville" bit and it is just the quote from the guy who took the cab, not the entire bit, so do not bother with that one. When you get the headphones, try "The F-Word" instead.

Ah, yes. I have had heard many iterations of the F-word skit. And yet it never fails to make me smile. I'm just too simple minded.

Re: Minnesota
The voice of the announcer is what sells it. It is the same guy who does the "Great Northwestern Spotted Ferret Bat" bit on their page.

My favourite line:
"Why don't you go outside and play hide and go f#% yourself."

Jason Priestley will be starring in a new HBO series this fall. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the title of the show.

Re: Minnesota
Speaking of which, I still keep waiting for "The Right Price" on True Blood. Have you watched season two yet, and does it hold up? Have you tried The Vampire Diaries?
After watching the new remaster of Gladiator, I would love to pick up the Blus for Rome, but given how much I paid for the DVDs that would need to be at a helluva "Right Price"!

Re: Minnesota
I refuse to buy Rome on Blu right now. HBO has bent me over far enough.
Yes, the second season of True Blood holds up. I do find that the middle episodes drag a bit, but the seasons always start and end well, which keeps me coming back. I highly recommend True Blood. I think you'd enjoy.
Although not available on Blu-ray, I've also been watching Big Love. I just finished the first season. Along with Six Feet Under, you ought to give those shows a try. Both are excellent.
