Had some friends have there pc go down. So I dug though the parts pile to see what I had to fix it. The old 350W power supply went out on one and boiled smoke everywhere. It now has 250W supply out of a older pc I upgraded, 256 ram to 640, still running xp. Those Pentium 4 machines are hard to kill. He wants dual monitors and he really does gaming wise is cards or maybe push the barrier with pac-man so I found a old ATI 7200 card I had and installing the drivers right now. He had a old geforce 2 in it. It was an old pc was was good back in the day. But only one video out. He has the local muffler shop and will be doing some work for me here on my 52 ford in the next couple of months.

Case #2

Old gateway. I just gave away a pc just like it to a friend of mine for there 4 year old. Pentium 4, 512 ram. The integrated video card prongs broke on the board. This motherboard only has PCI slots (yes white old school ones). Last time home I had a few of these cards and threw them away because they were just factory cards. I remembered I had a old gateway 2000 in the attic so I looked it over and it has a separate board. only a 8mb card but all she does is cards and internet. Hope it works out.

Didn't work. Can anyone recommend a PCI graphics card that will work? Hope to find one on the bay cheap. If not it will be time to build another parts pc.

Also as a side project, as long as I stuck with server style ram would any core2duo style motherboard work for intel server CPU? I wound up with two 1.6 or 1.8 quad core cpu and debating on how to use them.

How about an old 3Dfx Voodoo card?

Edit: Never mind. They were 3D only; you still needed a 2D card, if I remember correctly.

Hence the pass through cables and crap. The voodoo 5500 I have in the closet is an AIO solution though.

Well I pulled two old pci video cards out, they would never work with her unit. I put them in a little big older P4 machine and one of them worked on it fine. So I have just scrapped that machine and gave her my boys first PC (emachine, 1gb ram, 1.8 single core AMD) The internal graphics had went on the fritz so I grabbed an old 7300gt sparkle card to drop off into it. MUCH better set up than what she had. Got the other two P4 Machines up and running. Got one more I am working on. It has a 70W power supply and PCI slot so I think it's bound for the trash can.
