I have not gotten very far in that game yet due to some UI issues related to my visual impairment. I will continue playing that game once I have found a patch to make the UI text larger.

I applaud you for hanging on to all of those. I generall sell off my older ones. If I had not, I would have a collection dating back to the Infocom days -- and I am talking the original packaging, with all of the tchotchkes. The 5-1/4" floppies would be useless, of course, but I bet all of the toys would have been worth something!

Most of my "dos" games are all stored on my hard drive. I don't have many that are disks. I do have "alice" and a few others though. Some classics are hard to beat. I have a 5.25 floppy drive put up "just incase" lol

I think that's cool.

I tend to collect books, music and films these days (when it comes to media and entertainment). (Watches and pens are my other vices.)

But nothing wrong with video games. I think it's awesome that you have a varied collection.

The link does work fine if you know it was there. On my computer, the sentence reads like a normal one with no visible link unless you hover over it. But I see it now!

O.K., so I just finished the GOG version of System Shock II, and it holds up remarkably well. I followed the mod suggestions on their forums, but stuck to graphical mods, not gameplay mods. The story still stands, the atmosphere is still very creepy, even with less than state-of-the-art graphics, and unlike many older games of its sort, the interface is still usable. (I tried the much vaunted Ultima VII, but the interface was just too much of a drag.) And this is after finishing Bioshock Infinite, so it is saying quite a bit that its vaunted ancestor is still a great experience.

I bought Wizardry 6-8, and am looking forward to giving them a chance again. I never played 6, and gave up on 7 back in the day as it was too damned tough. I will avail myself of tha interwebs that are around nowadays and use any character guides that I can find -- it was too easy to have a crippled party back then, unless you were willing to restart dozens of times.

Thanks! GOG has a full complement of the original manuals, maps and other goodies, so I am set. Supposedly the trilogy has some 500-700 hours of possible game play, so if I enjoy it I may be busy for a while. But I do remember them being BRUTALLY difficult, so we shall see if frustration sets in.

By the way, Divinity: Original Sin is absolutely awesome, and can be had DRM-laden from Steam or better yet, DRM-free from GOG. A definite crowd-funded success story.

I have picked that one up but haven't played it yet. Maybe I will try it next after I finish skyrim. I have got way sidetracked in side quests, lol.

Divinity: Original Sin does not necessarily have as many side quests, but it is a vast game nonetheless. Especially given how little hand-holding that it does; you can play for quite a while before figuring out how to do something -- crafting, etc. -- that will bring a smile to your face and make you spend time just exploring what you can do with your new-found way of doing things.
