G2 is in the building
I finally went for a way, way overdue upgrade and went for the new T-Mobile G2, which was sitting at my doorstep when I got home tonight. I can post some impressions if anyone cares -- or anyone is around TO care . . .

"G2 is in the building." That's a relief. " G-2 officer, an Army intelligence officer at the division level and higher." (Wikipedia)

I thougt it was S-2 but again I was always Company level....Never got to play with battalions, regiments, or divisions. Part of them, but never roamed their halls without a purpose.....

I'd be lying if I told you that I care. I assume you can place and receive calls?

Sorry. I will get to it. Part of the problem (well, not a real "problem" but you know what I mean) is that I am both figuring out how to use the phone itself and how to use Android -- and I am sure that I have barely scratched the surface on the latter. I want to play a bit more first.

One thing that I can definitely say is that any concerns about the processor being throttled back to 800mhz were unfounded. The new chip is fast, and the fact that they throttled it back extends battery life rather nicely. But it opens applications quickly and zips along rather nicely.

What we can take from that chart is that we all need to invest in a watch.

Make sure none around you has one of these - else could make for a humorous situation.

Re: G2 is in the building
I am getting to know it better and enjoying it. The keyboard is excellent -- I am glad that I waited for a T-Mobile phone with a real keyboard. (It is Z-hinged, not a slider, but I rather like that.) My biggest surprise, however, is that I am getting used to swype and it is greatly diminishing my keyboard usage. I never thought that I would really use the touch screen for inputting, but I am using swype about half of the time now, and the percentage in increasing. It is really fast and surprisingly accurate.
The screen on the phone is also very good. It is brighter than the faddish oled screens out there, with more accurate colours. Text is clear and sharp. The touch screen is very responsive as well, and I think that most of the problems that I am having are more due to my clumsiness with it than with the device itself. (This is the first touchscreen phone that I have used for any length of time.)
All in all, it seems like a great smartphone, and one of the best Android options out there (especially for T-Mobile.)

Using a finely tuned movement comprising gears, levers and springs?

Re: G2 is in the building
I would not repair a watch anyway, so that is not much of a relative issue.
