Re: Somemore great music
I was sitting at the oral surgeon's office when I posted the Richard and Linda Thompson clip, so I could not actually listen to it. The audio quality was quite poor -- sorry.
And as for your clip, mmmmmmm . . . Margo Timmons.
How about a much less sedate version of the above?
Oddball band, to say the least.

That version is also cool.
Now, one for oVo. Simple yet odd video, but it actually works:

Are you suggesting that oVo is simple yet odd?
In a weird way, it reminds me of Sine-Aid's video for "Nothing Compares to You" (no getting around an ad for this one, sorry):
One of my all-time favorite videos. The only disappointing thing is that the director does cut away from her during the instrumental section, which spoils the power of the otherwise uninterrupted take, but it still works.

I was more referring to the fact that oVo was a fan of Van Morrison and the song was entitled "Got to Go Back," which is the opening track on No Guru, No Method, No Teacher -- an album in which Van conveys a story of regret and remorse. From that angle, I can understand the connection to O' Connor's song.
I am generally not a big fan of Counting Crows, but check out this song:

Not a fan either, but that was not half bad.
I got my soundtrack to Knightriders yesterday. I am lovin' every minute of it, as they say. Still nothing to link to, however. Try this instead, as I picked it up on the same order:
I just love that song.

Re: Somemore great music
I will probably never be forgiven for posting this, but this is one of my all-time favourite musical openings to a movie:

That may be borderline unforgiveable. I will have to counter with one of my favorite musical openings:

A better opening (excuse the fan-added captions):

Re: Somemore great music
O.K., I freely grant you that one. The first time that I saw the movie, the instant that Sturgess turned, looked directly into the camera, and sung that first line, I was hooked.
I was going to post a link to the opening titles to Never Say Never Again since I am one of precisely three people in the world who actually likes the song and thinks that it sets the tone for the movie nicely, but then I found this mashup of the same sequence using the "Bond 77" music from The Spy Who Loved Me. It actually works pretty well.

No bad at all. But I now offer this (I would have posted the actual intro, but the sound quality was terrible, so you will have to put up with the music video instead):

Re: Somemore great music
I enjoy that song. Not sure if it would make my "top five" of Bond tunes, but it is up there.
I know that I have posted this before, but this is the marvellous version of the Bond theme by Parodi/Fair that was used on the original Goldeneye trailer. It is one of the best versions of the Bond theme. (This version is the full track rather than the actual trailer:)

That one is awesome (even though embedding is disabled, I know what you are linking to!). This one is also good:

Sorry. Should always check before posting.
What was yours from? Was that a fan creation?
I assume that you have heard the Propellerheads version:

I just like Diane's anything, but that does not change the fact that it is a great opening for a film!

Re: Somemore great music
I believe I did post a fan video, but it is not done too badly.
I was waiting for you to post the Propeller Head's version. I love the quiet segmant from about the five-minute to the six-and-a-half-minute mark.
This is the last country-ish song I will post, but it is worth a mention:

One of the greatest scenes from any movie from any era.
But of course, it leads me predictably to this:

Re: Somemore great music
Since I already posted the Primus version of that song, I won't do it again. Instead, I'll go back to the original source when he performed at the Grande Ole Opry, and with a wicked mid-song jam to boot:

I just rewatched the Primus video, and I suspect that the animators may have seen that episode of The Muppet Show!

Electric version of "Dueling Banjos." (The video versions don't sound quite as good.):

Re: Somemore great music
He seems to specialize a bit!
I assume that you have seen this movie, so I am not spoiling anything, but here is a great scene that uses an unusual version of a classic (if you have not seen the movie, you may wish to skip the clip):
Fun trivia tidbit: needless to say, Macchio is not really playing, but it is actually Steve Vai performing his part -- so Vai is dueling himself!

I actually haven't seen the movie. Is it one you would suggest.
Youtube isn't playing nicely for me this morning. I will have to continue our game later.

Re: Somemore great music
Well, as a blues buff you would certainly enjoy it. it is a fantasy (though that is not so obvious at the beginning) so do not expect a historically accurate, coldly realistic look at Delta blues, but it is a lot of fun and has some smashing blues performed by the great Ry Cooder (who did the soundtracks for many other Walter Hill movies.) Definitely skip the clip then since it spoils a "surprise" at the end.
