It seems like anyone who likes to build their own computers, are likely anti-apple.

I guess the theory is that people who like to use Apple computers, would easily transition and enjoy the other Apple products such as the iPhone...

No iphone here. Wifey has one, but all she does is text and facebook. No other apps.

I used an itouch that I used quite a bit around the house and hotels when traveling.

The truth is, I'm trying to figure out (and open the discussion) on why the boyfriend is anti apple product and anti iphone. My theory is that PC users see technology in a different way than consumers who don't build their own machines, as he is a lot like you guys, always working on the next build, collecting computers/servers as his hobby.

Droid 3 here. Apple lost out when I bought my 1st droid and the iphone couldn't multitask. That combined with the fact I am not too fond of apple and the battery is not end user replaceable and its a pita to open the case to change it sealed the deal.

Well, I do not build my own rigs and never have, but I still have anti-Apple-itis. I have zero interest in and iPhone. I have used iPods, but that came down to getting a good deal on my first one and deciding after using it that Apple's AAC codec sounded better than mp3. But I have no real love of the hardware.

I just got a ipod touch 4th gen 32 gb. (Pretty much the iphone with out the phone part) I like it. Haven't jail broke it yet. I wouldn't of bought it for the price they are selling it at. I had money saved in my company store. We get points every quarter so I get 400 a year to spend on stuff with cash I can never touch. Only reason I got it the battery life is a lot better than some of my android stuff so it will last the 14 to 16 hr plane rides I have.. They do have a good solid product with it, BUT I HATE THERE SOFTWARE AND SOFTWARE RESTRICTIONS. It was why I got rid of my 1st gen Ipod shuffle I got from the company store and gave it to my daughter a long time ago. For my Android use I have a Galaxy tab phone for tmobile with out service I use for quick browsing and games, 10" china made tablet I got overseas for cheap for movies on the plane and broswing.

The girl friend just got a Iphone a few months back and likes hers, but she doesn't like the restrictions on it with out having to jail brake it.

I was using a ipod touch 2g a while back that I got for free after my friend dropped it (breaking the digitizer glass) It was alright. About the only thing I liked about it was the sensitivity of the digitizer. Typing on it with your thumbs felt just right. It still sucked for playing games though.

I jail broke it using redsnow or blackrain or something (Don't really remember that well) All I know is cydia is a poorly written piece of crap and use to take about 15 mins to load and crash regularly.

It really cant compete with the droid 3 though, Especially after I rooted it the day after I got it. True multitasking and a (real) slide out keyboard are great. It makes playing games and typing 100x easier then it can be on any screen. In the future when android becomes more advanced I can see it becoming a mainstream pc os and M$ falling; In fact is already an android release that can be run on x86 hardware. I am considering loading up the toshiba 50ct I just came across in my basement with it on a compact flash card.

I just rooted that Vibrant but haven't done much else with it since then. I plan on unlocking it for all networks next. Just something to play with while at work. I have messed with the android x86 project some and signed up for there news letters. They had the android 4.0 x86 port out for download the last time I checked. On couple of my toughbooks touchscreen worked out of the box.

And that, Rozzie, would be why they are not using an iPhone!

Well, one major one is software compatibility issues. Since you are dealing with an open platform with a wide variety of hardware, you can end up with issues running some apps -- not unlike the wonderful world of the PC.
