Think I will be switching from duel 550 TI's to a single 720 GT passive cooled edition. For whats actually worth playing these days it should be adequate. Plus it is about a 100 TDP drop 116w -> 19w TDP. We will see how it actually performs.

Should alleviate my thermal woes now that summer is here. I am also curious to see how it stacks up to the 860m in my new laptop.

Also thinking of going from a i7 960 quad core to a xeon x5650 hex core. 45nm -> 32nm 130w TDP -> 95w TDP, Xeons memory controller supports ecc in addition to a higher memory capacity it also supports DDR3-1333 where as the i7 960 only supports DDR3-1066. The xeon is clocked a bit slower but all around it looks like a worth while upgrade considering the xeon is sitting right in front of me. Been wanting to tear down my rig to repaste anyway. I will have to do some before and after benchmarks.

720 did not benchmark quite as well as the 550 so I guess I will be sticking with it.
