Re: Board Theme?
If it works, don't fix it!
Iago: 3.gif is not TYSH. 3.gif was the psychadelic-flashing image of the Number 3 that Cat posted and caused people the world over to induce epileptic seizures.
We were prohibited from posting the image ever again, so we resorted to using its file name.

I don't understand how that would be any worse then this jem of a banner ad that just came up on this forum; (something tells me this is better off left as a link) http://content.yieldmanager.edgesuite.net/atoms/b4/23/d6/f5/b423d6f57bbd4826df81a95651e86ff6.gif
Re: Board Theme?
3.gif beat that. It cycled through a rainbow of colours at a obnoxiously quick rate. It was a quintessential Cat post and probably would have been his signature smite if he were not banned from using it. If only we could find the image . . .

Re: Board Theme?
I got a rough beta of that emoticon selection bar thing I was working on finished; again you guys have to drag and drop them into the message body and then manually add the image tags (going to see what I can do to automate the process)
Check it out, let me know what you think.
http://www.mutthaboards.co.cc/ (I actually find this domain easier to remember then the real domain so its a win win for me)

If only we could find Cat. I still think that he may find us, however -- he is his own Mr. Universe.

Just added the pirate: http://www.mutthaboards.co.cc/
Were up to 29 total
The only other one I can for see a need for would be a face palm one. I made this one for our smf forum.
Might make one in the future.
I may thing the bar out a bit, It didn't bother me at first but now its starting to be annoying
Other then making them clickable do you guys have any suggestions?

Re: Board Theme?
I appreciate the effort, but, to be honest, I never use emoticons. I stick to obscure abbreviations and acronyms that no one can understand and which allows me to be satirical at the same time (as a general rule, one should avoid developing and using abbreviations and acronyms as it's confusing for the reader).

Re: Board Theme?
Needless to say, I agree with you about using emoticons generally. I would rather let words stand by themselves, though obfuscating things with proprietary acronyms is always good for a giggle! However, I do appreciate ETs efforts a bit more, because there are circumstances under which I do use emoticons -- usually to make pictograms out of them (you can tell entire stories with emoticons.) The so-called "corporate" Voodoo emoticons were actually better for that purpose than the "original" ones whose loss birthed the usage of custom acronyms (thank you oVo for taking us down that path.) So I will end up using the ones that ET is archiving for us -- just not in the accepted fashion!

Re: Board Theme?
I probably will not use a "Voodoo" emoticon......no surprise there, eh.
I generally don't use emoticons anyway as I came to this form of communication late in life and generally feel that I need to search for the one that correctly expresses my feelings. Even then I don't usually find one that does. I guess you just have to be able to discern what I feel from what I write.
Failing that, ask.

but, I think that as you get older you actually become more emotional. But some "old codgers" have difficulty with expressing there emotions and compensate with gruffness.

Re: Board Theme?
Well, feel free to be gruff around here anytime. It is the only thing that makes the rest of us look good in comparison.

Re: Board Theme?
ET, you do not have access to any of the various "custom" emoticons that people used at the Mutthaboards, do you?
