I personally think we should leave SRV to what he did best..playing his own tunes in his own style and not ask who is the SRV in other catagories such as Jazz..

If no one showed up to see Joe Pass play..he would still play brilliantly..if no one showed up to see SRV he would have probably walked off the stage and got a Beer instead.""

Well, they are apparently coming from a totally different place, which may be both magical and theoretical.

But yes, it seems a bit nitpicky to start a thread about the blues and then complain when we post the blues!
