Yellowstone. We have traveled to mumerous parks in the US & Canada (including Yellowstone twice previously) and never have we seen as many animals as this one trip. If you are interested in more videos you can search Youtube for "yst2011."

Yellowstone makes sense. It was the snow at the side of the roads that threw me. I figured you must be at high altitude or north.

Yellowstone had a near record snowfall this year. There were spots where the snow was still over 20 feet high where it had been carve out near the road. Doing the Beartooth highway was particularly dangerous as many of the hairpin curves became blind corners--normally you can see from one level of road to the next.

It was a combination of the wrong microphone setting, the altitude, being out of shape, and old age.

That looks beautiful. I have always wanted to go to Yellowstone. I need to make the trip one of these days. I assume there are cabins and plenty of lodging? I don't care for RV-ing, and a road like that deserves to be driven with a properly capable car. Camping is an option, though.

Numerous places to stay in the park as well as nearby. We have stayed in Cooke City (just ourside the Northeast entrance) each of the 3 times that we have visited the park. We like staying there because you have to drive through the Lamar Valley to get to the other attractions, and the Lamar Valley is where you encounter the most wildlife. The trip through the Lamar Valley to Tower Junction normally takes about 45 min to an hour depending on how many times you stop to view animals. You also encounter less tourists when staying on the Northeast side.

This time we rented a house for 6 nights. There were 9 of us in the house and we paid $293 per person for the 6 nights. We brought in our food and beverages (purchasing locally can be very expensive) and our food cost for the entire trip was just under $15 per person per day.

Thanks for the info and tips. I do prefer to stay where it's less busy.
