And how did you manage that? Was this another biking adventure?

Wow that really sucks. Now your going to have to go to the dentist for sure.
Re: From the Department of Stupid
I was picking up some product at the plant to run to a customer, so I was pushing a two wheeler by my left side while grabbing product at my right. I went to grab a Bib (fountain syrup) which is pretty heavy, but I still had the two wheeler tilted back with the handle in my left hand and my foot holding the wheel steady. I dropped the Bib onto the two wheeler, and apparently was not gripping the handle very well because it slipped out of my hand and the weight of the Bib caused it to rocket upward like a catapult (picture someone stepping on a rake in a cartoon.) It caught me on the back side of my jaw and my teeth slammed together.
The good news, of course is that I was not talking to anyone at the time or licking my lips, because I may well have bitten the end of my tongue off. The bad news is that I chipped the top two and bottom two front teeth when they met. The good news is that I already had chips one one side of two of the teeth, and now I have chips on the other side so that they are symmetrical again. The bad news is that it took a few hours, but now my jaw and the whole side of my face is really starting to throb. The good news is that it gives me an excuse to blow off mowing the lawn tonight.
. . . and the insult to injury is that the manager of the account to which I was going berated me when I got there over something that was not my fault, and even called me "asinine." I was tempted to spit some chunks of tooth at him.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
Do you at least have dental coverage? It sounds like something that might be fillable.
Re: From the Department of Stupid
I do have coverage, but nah. It is not like I was that pretty to begin with.

Ouch! Aesthetics aside, aren't the jagged edges annoying? I suppose they will naturally smooth out over time.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
They are already smoothing out a bit. Just a couple of sharp edges that will wear down eventually. My dentists had offered to file down the previous chips, but I am glad that I said not to bother -- at this rate, I am going to file them down on my own!

Re: From the Department of Stupid
We've had quite a bit of rain lately, so the grass is growing like crazy. To add to matters, the mosquitoes are also out in full force this year. It's no fun mowing the lawn when your being attacked by a swarm of little blood-sucking bastards.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
Sorry to here of your accident. For personal reasons you may not want to file a claim, but all of the "repairs" should be covered by Workmen's Compensation. Some employers get feisty if you file a claim and even feistier if you don't.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
Thank you. Yes, it would be covered by workman's comp if I made a claim, but no I do not want to do that. I did monitor how I felt the next morning pretty carefully to make sure that there were no ill effects beyond the pain. If something had been obviously wrong, I would have called in promptly to make the official reporting in the 24 hour window from the time of the accident. But I would only do that if it had been serious, and the chips are not serious to me.

Your avatar of The Maxx is so much more fitting in this thread.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
Already thought about that. I changed my picture on my FB page to the Maxx in honor of my teeth.

Re: From the Department of Stupid
At least you have a good excuse to eat jerky now -- that'll help smooth them out.

The bigger chips are here to stay, but other rough edges are already starting to smooth out.
