Facebook account deleted

October 23 rd is the day it gets deleted. I will celebrate with a 40 oz beer. haven't logged on it for a while and have no interest on checking on people.

I am quite proud to say that I do not have (nor never had) a facebook, myspace, or twitter account.

Facebook is a tool like any other. It is useful to you or not. Glad to see you around here!

I realize that I am not pc, but having such an account obbligates one to check it, similar to email or an answering machine ( I have the first but not the second). So (according to my acquaintances) it becomes my fault if I don't know what is going on in their lives.

Further, if I instantly know everything about everybody, what is the purpose of getting together for the holidays?

I'm with you both. Plus, I like the idea of having some privacy in life and being unavailable from time to time. Life is too hectic as it is.

Again, it is useful or not. I see no superiority one way or another. Choose and enjoy.

Smart cars are useful to some, but they are never superior.

Everything has utility if it does something that is useful to the end user. (Yay -- triple redundancy!) My Dad briefly set up a FB account, and now keeps going on and on about how stupid and useless it was (knowing full well that I am a user.) On the other hand, he has a satellite system with a DVR so he can watch multiple shows that are on at the same time. To me, THAT is a waste of time.


(Speaking of which, I am 3/4 of the way through Season 2 of Breaking Bad on Blu-Ray. My TV show viewing may be limited, but I am happy with that choice!)

Season 2 was my favourite. I really enjoyed how the character developed that season. Season 3, incidentally, is available on Blu, in case you didn't know.

A wheelbarrow with square wheels will have no utility for most people.

I know that Season 3 is out -- I am not bothering to pick it up until I finish 2. Hopefully the price will drop in the meantime.

If it doesn't beforehand, it'll probably go down around Christmas, or just after.

WOOT two more days and my facebook gets officially deleted. I wonder if the pics stay in facebook...hmmm

You missed this since you are getting rid of your account, but relative to your "I must be getting old" thread I posted a status message after watching the new Blu-Ray for The Crow. It did not sink in until I was reading the dates in the closing credits that Brandon Lee has already been dead for nearly two decades. You may be getting old, but I feel even older!

Yeah, that was a while ago. Back in '95 I tried to ask Jeff Most, who was one of the producers, about that scene when Brandon got shot. Back then he had nothing to say and seemed very uncomfortable about it. I'm thinking forthcoming lawsuit maybe...?
