Hackintosh or buy the real deal?
Anyone have any experiences to share?
Sadly, I remember there was someone who had a Omen (maybe R) built as one, but he probably hasn't migrated over.

I'm a bit of a purist, and I've never been a big fan of imitations or homage pieces. If I wanted a Mac, I'd go buy one.
Talking of Voodoo designs of old, one of the rigs that intrigued me the most was the F50:

Yeah Brian here has converted his Omen. I'll get him to cover over and post about it.

Ahh, that Brian, ...we need him. 1ke has a question about the Dreamscreen that we can't figure out without spending $$$, I bet he would know.

To your defense, Chow did have a history of blowing stuff up before he got around to the finished product.

Yes, after I thought about that a bit, they both had combustion issues.

Re: Hackintosh or buy the real deal?
I was running a popular hacntosh distro of osx a while back on a tyan server board with duel xeon 2.4's and 1gb of ecc memory. It ran really well with minimal issues.
Mac hardware is serverly overpriced and chances are you will use it when you first get it and then switch back to pc. Therefor I really wouldn't waste money on mac hardware.
It really isn't any harder then installing any other operating system, Just set the bios correctly and make sure you check off the correct drivers for your hardware when you first install or your system will not boot properly and you will have to reinstall using different drivers.
