Envy on ebay

Thought I'd post this just for the sake of curosity. It is the most expensive starting bid I have seen for one. And I sort of don't believe it has only been used 10 over these many years lol.

That is a bigger rip off then the thinkpad 701c model kit.

Mind you I could get an original 701c in great running and physical condition for a mere $50 more right now.

I got it off of craigslist in Eugene Oregon, which is odd since I'm in Northwest Florida. I should have it this week and I'll post pictures of it.

That how I usually feel about craigslist but the guy runs a computer repair shop and sounded on the up so that helped me do it. I only wish he did not send it with the slowest UPS method.. the tracking only makes the wait longer.... I got another envy back in December for $500 which is in great shape so it is my benchmark for these. I really wish parts for these weren't impossible to find.

What model is the other envy? I have a stockpile of d870p and d900 parts.

It is the last one the Envy 133. I'm trying to get a few for parts to keep one or two in good working shape for a good many years and if a painted one comes avaliable to possibly do a complete restoration if I had to. I would also like to find a U909 in good working condition but I'm not holding my breath for that.

Watch out on eBay! There's a guy selling two which I think I came across during my craigslist searching. He has zero feedback and no pics. I sent a email to feel it out but I think it is the same thing I came across before, I'll wait to see if it is and post back.

Keep in mind that even if the auction is ligit the unit is probably beat to shit if he does not wish to share photos.

Since the amplifer on my LFE sub developed a hum (and the manufacturer went out of business) I have been lurking around Craigslist looking for a deal on a good model that would suit my needs that I could pick up instead of having it shipped to me. I am amazed at how often people do not include a photo. Granted, a person could put a fake photo to try to mask any damage, but not putting any photo on at all seems guaranteed to not get any bites at all. Some people do not even list the model number of the sub!

I find it funny that they seem to be pulling in more money without photographs.

I think that they have finally reached the prime point of obscurity. People still know what they are but if you want one good luck trying to find out. Maybe its time to sell.

Anyone think it's odd that in one week two different envys were listed by people with none or barely any feedback and no pictures of the unit itself? And they sell via but it now with in two days? I think someone is trying to build up the market then it's their own real computer to sell at a premium(which will look like a deal compared to the others sold at the inflated prices) . Or it could be a scam?

Well I got my other Envy 133 in on Thursday but have not had a chance to work on it until today. Well the previous guy who was a computer repair person and did not know what he was doing. He soldered the DC connector and messed it up so now I got to find another one. But he gorilla glued the palmrest on to the metal bracket underneth it and it made a hella of a mess which took me and a friend a hour to clean up and free from the rest of the case. But other than that and malware it is not to bad. If anyone needs picture of the envy 133 dissassembled I got some I took with my phone now. I'm think about upgrading it to a SSD possibly. I will post some pics up once I'm fully done working on it.

gorilla glue is a bitch to remove but it does bond extremely well. I used it to repair the cracks in the base of the i222 I bought and so far it has held up extremely well.

I also used it to reattach the metal airduct in my alienware m7700. Originally it was held in place with tiny plastic stakes. When I was rebuilding it last time I noticed that was no longer the case. Needless to say I haven't had any problem with it and it got me out of having to replace the base plastic.
