Re: New Phone
Not sure if it was some kind of error or what but I had gotten the otterbox defender off of newegg for $35 the day after i placed the order for the phone. I just went back to link it here and it is listed as unaviable. One of the vendors on newegg still has it for $36. I ordered mine right through newegg for that price oddly enough. Msrp for the case is $60 which I refused to pay.
For me i am finding it to be the perfect ballence between a phone and tablet. The touch screen keyboard is extremely easy to type on. In fact i just typed this on it.

Re: New Phone
When I ordered mine from eBay otterbox didn't even have a case out for it, I will have to check i out. I usually get mine cheaper like that online. I will have to go check it out.

Re: New Phone
this is the best price i can find it for right now. I think that is the grey one though. I got the black and it looks nice on the grey note 2.
Re: New Phone
Just a side note, They belt clip on the otterbox sucks. The holster on my droid 3 allowed the phone to fully sit in my pocket and belt clip gave it extra security. The way the clip is designed on the otterbox, Half the phone hangs out of my pocket so it is in danger of falling out. I also do not like the way the clip turns into a stand. This makes it extremely easy to think it is clipped on when in fact it is in "stand mode" and isn't grabbing anything.
The case is really nice but they dropped the ball on the holster imo. It should cover 100% of the screen and the belt clip should not lock in the open position. It should also be offset more so that it is not trying to defy gravity...
I will try to get a pick up later of what I am talking about with it not covering 100% of the screen and a picture of how poorly it fits in my pocket when using the belt clip and compared to my droid 3. I cant mess with it right now too much its charging.

Re: New Phone
The otter box I have now on my htc inspire locks open. I have meant several time to bring in a file to solve that lock open issue. At least it does cover the whole screen. Even the rugged knock off case I have covers the whole screen.

Re: New Phone
I still struggle with virtual keyboards, but I guess that's the way technology is taking us.
As for phone service providers, I think they all suck balls. They work to get people in the door, and then service goes out the window. They're all bastards. I'm with Roger's, which is partnered in some way with AT&T. My phone always switches to an AT&T carrier when I'm in the United States.

Re: New Phone
Problem #1: Holster does not cover entire screen. While it is unlikely it is possible for the screen to get scratched by other objects in your pocket.
Problem #2: Usage of the belt clip prevents the majority of the phones weight from being in your pocket.
When clipped in your pocket the weight distribution is about 50/50. So it has half a chance of falling out.
How my droid 3 fits for comparison.
Problem #3: The belt clip locks in the open position. You could think it is clipped on when in fact it isnt.
All in all it is a really nice case and does offer a high level of protection. It is just that for $60 msrp I would expect a case that I can use the belt clip on.

Re: New Phone
Dam, plastic must be getting expensive so they skimped out. The one I have has a lip on 3 sides and a deep holding lip on one side.

Re: New Phone
I can not understand why they put those 2 notches there either. The note 2 case does not have any lip, The inside is completely flat. On the back edge of the holster there is 2 c shaped clips that wrap around to the other side of the phone. It is secured over the phone by the L shaped plastic tab.
It definitely sounds like the one they designed for your htc is a superior design.

Re: New Phone
So was that a "no clue" to the AT&T question?

Re: New Phone
Picture of the same kind I have, I wasn't crazy about the one clip to lock it into place but it has worked well. I am on my second otter box. I knocked it off my side three days after I got my first box. The dog found it first and chewed it from one end to another. The phone didn't get a scratch but the box was destroyed. Ordered a second. I have had to fix the belt clip twice using part of the one the dog chewed up to fix this one I have now. First time the clip broke, second time the piece in the middle that swivel broke. I forget I have it on my side a lot so when I was working under the truck had something to do with it. It has had several drops to concrete in the box too. It has survived every time. Phone still looks new when I take it out of the case.

Re: New Phone
I never had AT&T but I did have nextel and it sucked. Not sure how things are now that they are the same company as sprint.

I had to go back and re-read your question. I have AT&T right now and have had them for several years. There are a few areas around the house that it won't pick up, but AT&T still has 90% or more of the coverage area. If you stay on the main roads you will always have service. The cities always have the best internet speed. I use to also have a laptop card with them before they offered DSL in my area. It was dial up speed or maybe double that on a good day. When they swapped the big cities to 4g we finally got 3g out here at the house. By that time I didn't have my internet card any more. Browsing on my phone seems to work fine, but I haven't really put it on any speed test.
I just logged into the speedtest.net site on android firefox lets see what I get at home.
Had to download and install the APP for it, wouldn't let me do it from the site.
ping 262ms
download 3319kbps
upload 345kbps
Have no clue it that is bad or good.

Re: New Phone
I am getting about 7mbps down and 2mbps up on verizon 4g. Which is equivalent to my old cable connection before I upgraded.
Re: New Phone
Next time I go to Monroe I will have to run it again to see what I get on the 4g network.
