Laptop painting
I'm planning on painting a laptop for fun and a way to learn how to better work with automotive paint. Ive watched and read a good amount of articles and videos on painting a laptop but I would like to have a little more first hand knowledge going into it. I'm planning on painting a Lenovo x300, I like how thin and how easy it's disassembly is. I'm thinking a red candy apple metallic paint for the cover, sides and underside of the base and a black lacquer for the bezel, palm rest, and areas around the keyboard. Im open to any input on this.

All I can offer is good luck. I've never done that sort of thing.
Of your colour choices, red and black are good, though I might be tempted to stick to one colour.

Yeah I thought about doing just one color, but it just seemed too generaic for the challenge.. I got the inspiration for the black from the Envy 133's that are painted, it just gives a clean break away from the rest.

Re: Laptop painting
If your painting this yourself, go with one color, ...unless there is a place to break the color on a seam or edge (like the slab sided 133 was).
You do know this is going to be expensive to do? The right painting equipment will cost more than what an autobody shop would charge to spray it (and from my experience, they will do a better job).

Re: Laptop painting
Im actually just doing it with automtive paint in aersoyl cans. For this small of a job it will more than suffice. And the lenovo X300 is really segmented and can be easily disassembled, so I can theoratically paint each part a differnet color without a real issue, just time consuming.

Re: Laptop painting
If it comes apart easy enough, it might be fun to paint adjacent parts a different color, ...make it "Rasta".
Re: Laptop painting
Lol not my style. I'm trying for a simple but yet classy look. I'm not artist in anyway so designs on it are a no go lol. But I can make one simple square look unreal with perfection. So it kinda makes up for not being to different.

Play Bob Marley in the background while you work and you'll be inspired.

Re: Laptop painting
I was thinking some silver or black racing stripes. I'm in no way an artist so straight lines I do good.... Sometimes

Never underestimate the effort required to make a straight line!

Better yet, give up on straight lines entirely and embrace the power of the Mobius!

Ryan doesn't even post here. It's not cool to talk about him like that, and especially behind his back.
