Very much on purpose. I was trolling Google Images for mobius pictures and found that one; the page it was on was a post from someone telling the story about how he/she knit the thing.

Cheeky or not, I know people perfectly capable of making something like that by accident.

Actually, when I saw that the page was labelled The Owl Underground, and it had mobius knitting, for a second I really thought that it might be him!
