Board Theme?
I am glad I found all of you and the new forum. I Hope everybody is well.
I was thinking since it doesn't appear that you guys have made a board theme yet we should make a classic Mutthaboard theme for the forum. (Most of the images we would need are right here: http://web.archive.org/web/20080207142022/http://www.voodoopc.com/boards/forums.aspx )
The only board themes I have done are for SMF but I can't imagine making a theme for this board would be that hard. I even have the classic emoticons around here somewhere...

Re: Board Theme?
Do you have the "Reaction, not example" emoticon? I would kill for it!
Thanks for posting the link to those archives. I thought that they were dead -- I am glad to see that they are still accesible. (Slow, but accesible!)
As far as a theme here, Frosty is the one with the power. We talked about categories as well. Maybe if he has time we can get both done simultaneously.

Re: Board Theme?
We have enough threads going that categories would be useful. A theme would also be cool, but we do need Frosty's help. I don't believe anyone else can change the overall look.

Re: Board Theme?
He posted a suggested list, but maybe we should refine it with our own suggestions. We need something like:
Miscellaneous/Lounge
Movies/TV
Computers
. . . at a minimum, but what do you think?

Re: Board Theme?
The pedant in me would like to suggest that we don't use slashes.
Based on some of the threads we have and have had going, how about:
Lounge
Video and Audio
Computers and Technology
Fitness and Sports
Automotive
Arts
Vacation and Travel
Most are self explanatory.
I'm suggesting video and audio so that we can discuss hardware and software, both in-home and commercial (should we wish to talk about big-screen movies or even concerts). Arts, I'm thinking, would be a home for things like photography threads, ethelred's dish thread and, even though we haven't done so yet, thread's related to books, art and theatre.

Re: Board Theme?
Shall we give it a couple of days to see if Frosty stops by and, if he doesn't, send him a PM or email to ask for his help?

I will look to see which ones I have when I get home, I'm not sure about that one :s either way as soon as I find them ill throw them in a rar and upload them would do it now but I'm not at home
I wish the threads were readable that would be cool.
Yeah I figured I would give frosty a chance to find this on his own before I made a pm about it

Re: Board Theme?
Iago is referring to the smiley with the dropping jaw, or the smiley that looks it is smiling like a doughnut. It's similar to this one:

Re: Board Theme?
That would be the equivalent for the one for which I am looking. But there is no mistaking the Mutthaboards version -- the "example" in that case must have been John Holmes.

Figured I owe you guys an update
Well my old hard drive isn't cooperating (Theres that great western digital quality again)
I was using them in msn on my old windows installation, Here are the ones I am sure I have (im still trying to recover the actual gifs
However all is not lost because I have already managed to recover the pirate one.

Re: Board Theme?
Well here is what I dug up:
Voodoo Collection
Shortly after my old drive completely died, So unless I can find them stored somewhere else or somebody wants to contribute a controller board for a wd3200ks circa nov 2006 I think these are the only ones that survived. (Frosty if your reading this is there any chance you could upload them if they still exist over there?) I'll look on my old pentium 4's raid array but I seriously doubt I have them stored on there, That thing predates modern civilization
And for our resident hooligans:

Re: Board Theme?
Oh dear. Iago will be saddened. He will have to stick to the rabbit example, rather than the horse one of old.
Nevertheless, though completely unrelated to the example smiley, that chainsaw one is kinda cool.

Haven't seen those Voodoo smilies made by Ruffus in so long, so familiar, so long ago!

Re: Board Theme?
I think Iago's after the diamond-shaped smileys that came after those original smileys. The diamond-shaped series contains the example, not reaction smiley. Unfortunately, no one appears to have kept that specific smiley.

Re: Board Theme?
Rozzie is my heroine! I saved a copy of that for myself. Those are indeed the much-maligned "corporate" smilies for which I was looking. I have never seen one that quite compares with the "reaction, not example" one. Now if only we can find FF4L, for whom I named that smiley, we will really be cooking!
Ethelred:
3.gif, of course, is the infamous {TYSH}. 1.gif is my {N-TYSH} variant. I saved a copy of it long ago in case I felt the desire to explain the acronym. Needless to say, I rarely explained anything!

So who is the lucky person going to be? We can rule out Rozz

Re: Board Theme?
Well you guys knew it was coming...
Thanks to Ethelred for the idea and key components. Thanks to Rozzinator for providing the all important emoticons themselves.
It isn't click to insert because i dont know javascript. You can drag and drop them into your forum posts though. It saves time and agervation and puts them right at your finger tips. I am still trying to perfect it. I am too tired to mess with it anymore tonight so here is the screen shot I am releasing.
Sorry it is kind of small, photobucket likes to resize everything.
It isn't perfect, its crude and basic but at least it is a step toward integration...
