For Sale: Voodoo Rage F:50 / Zalman TNN-500A (+components)
OK, chased you ex-Next Bench folks down here to see if this is of any interest to any of you...
OK, if you are a tinkerer or problem solver this is for you. I have one of the original Voodoo PC Rage F:50 machines (later identified as the Voodoo Eden DCC). This is the PC that looks like a small radiator on wheels. Take a look at the pictures. One of the best silent PC's, it used heat pipes to cool the CPU and video card.
You can read up about it and see more stock pictures & a review.
State of the machine:
* Sometimes boots but not completely (freezes after booting) - PSU seems to be whirling, CPU seems OK
* Tried replacing the motherboard and it still fails to start. I'm including the original and a NEW replacement mobo - enjoy.
* Tried replacing with known working CPU and memory and has the same effect
* No hard drives at this point
Component List:
* Zalman TNN-500A / Amazing silent PC case - great for a custom project
* Asus P4C800-E Deluxe - Intel 875/865 Chipset (2 of them) (Asus Site Info)
* CPU: Some advanced Intel Pentium IV @ 800 MHz. (Not sure what speed it's at)
* 4 GB RAM (4 x 1GB Patriot 1GB PC3200 - PEP1G3200LL: Timing 2-3-2-5)
* Video Card: Radeon 9600 XT (128MB RAM)
* Sound Card: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS
* CD-ROM Burner: Plextor Premium CD-RW
* DVD-ROM: Plextor PX708A DVD+-RW
* Floppy Drive
* 8-in-1 multi-media reader
* Manuals, CD's, Windows XP Pro License
Unfortunately, I don't have any more time to work on this project so, I'm selling the case and will include an extra working mobo that I tried to use to replace it. Because it's heavy (50-ish pounds), I'd prefer a local pickup/dropoff so that we don't have to deal with packing and shipping such a heavy beast. But if you insist on me shipping it, I'll do it (you would pay for shipping - might be costly). I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area. Make me a reasonable offer and its yours.
Thanks,
-Basil

I always loved that model. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to tinker, nor do I think that case would hold up well with modern components. Still, I wish you all the best with the sale.

I don't know if I need another case, ...but about how much are you thinking?
PM me when you get a chance.

That is the problem with state-of-the-art cases: the State of the Art keeps moving. My RAGE case is still beautiful, but pretty much worthless for upgrading.

You can do a lot of things with that RAGE case, it might not be the most potent gaming rig but a nice energy efficient one that gets things done with style.
I still have one, originally was Kenji's I think. ...I'll get to it someday.
This case is trickier, due to the heat pipes one will have to alter if you change the mobo or gpu.

The Zalman TNN-500A was limited as to what components you could install in it when it was released. You'd have to be very creative to get it to work with today's components.
Still, I loved the concept and the package that Voodoo put together, even if it was a bit slow compared with the other models Voodoo was offering at that time.

Sorry for the late reply on this. I had a collector/hobbyist come pick it up last week - so it's now officially gone now. I miss it already :-(

It's like giving up a classic car. Modern cars might perform better, but the classic car has a special place in your heart.
