Re: Seamaster and Iago's endless rehashing Bond thread
Are you selling, gifting, or donating your old bond Blu-rays?

I will probably sell them. You get very little for used discs these days, but every little bit counts. While I hate getting rid of anything before I get the new stuff (given the delay with the rest of the Bond Blus, part of me wishes that I had hung on to the DVDs) it probably will be smarter to sell them BEFORE the new set comes out.

Too bad there wasn't some sort of a trade-up program, but then why would a company consider doing that when most will just purchase the new box set.

The reason that they pull crap like this at all is that they know that they can get away with it.
By the way, I must note with some pride that I have stuck to my guns about not giving George Lucas any more of my money.

It is coming this fall, and I will buy that. As far as I know, other than that infamous new digital effect in Raiders, everything is otherwise untouched. Lucas does have to keep Spielberg happy. The only downside is that you have to get the last one with the box. But there have not been a lot of details about it yet.

So you'll get your favourite movie of the series. What's not to like?

I have not seen the fourth one since I saw it in the theatre, and when I buy the boxed set I doubt that I will watch that disc!

Hey my cousin supervised the digital effects in that one, ... you don't like all the digital effects?
Re: Seamaster and Iago's endless rehashing Bond thread
So your cousin is the one that we get to blame? Good to know!
Actually, other than the lousy story, terrible actions scenes, fake looking digital effects, and tired acting, it was probably a pretty good movie.

There is a pretty small amount of territory between not too bad and good.

Which could be considered a synonym of "not too good," so that expands the realm a bit.

Re: Seamaster and Iago's endless rehashing Bond thread
Got my tickets for the first showing of The Dark Knight Rises on the Monday after it opens, at the one true Imax theatre in the Twin Cities. I figure that way I will avoid the biggest crowds and most rabid fanboys, though I will still have to deal with kids out of school. But hopefully I will not have to get in liine as early as I would trying to see it Friday or over the weekend, regardless of the showtime.

And that's why I wait a week or two after opening, or attend the midnight showing.

Re: Seamaster and Iago's endless rehashing Bond thread
The midnight show is going to be a zoo. (Inside joke, if you know where the Imax theatre is located in the Twin Cities.) I do not want to wait a full week as I am too worried about hearing spoilers, especially from my friends who will have already been to the midnight show. I figure that I can make it three days.
