the big island has volcanos and ranches to horseback ride on and mountains with snow and if you get tied of Kona there is always Hilo and roads the rental car company won't let you take their cars on (gotta be something good there) and isn't Dog there too?

Having never been to Hawaii, I can't really comment, but it has always been a place that I've wanted to visit.

Sat out on the deck last night, enjoying a fire and the fountain (one of these days I'll have to upload some pictures of my project). Unfortunately there was only a sliver of moon to love last night.

Either my schedule or the weather has not cooperated with my attempts at taking some pictures...maybe this weekend.

It stopped raining up here, but not recently enough for me to get the lawn mowed before we leave on vacation tomorrow. I am going to have a jungle to deal with when I get back!

where's vacation?

New England. We are flying into Hartford, CT and staying with friends in Ashford. We are renting a car, and while I am printing maps and looking up ideas, I have no agenda and we will go wherever the mood takes us -- into the mountains, out to the coast, or wherever.

Enjoy. If you go to the coast, say hello to Jaws for me.

Actually, I am thinking about heading out to Martha's Vineyard, so I will do just that!

Just going to bed out in Ashford. In talking to the people with whom we are staying, it is still the tail end of whale-watching season, so we are definitely going out to Cape Cod to see some whale tails!

Same here. Everytime I'm given a choice, it seems I choose to go west, eventhough I may have been to the same location one or two times previously. I guess I have an affinity for mountains.

Oh, we are heading out to the mountians as well. Possibly the Catskills, though that will be a three hour drive or so. More likely something like Monadnock in New Hampshire. We decided to head down to New London and Mystic tomorrow to look for tall ships. Then we will probably head to the mountains on Tuesday, since the swells from Igor will be at their peak and Eve gets motion sickness. Probably whales on Wednesday.

Heck, I just have to go down to the local fast food joint to see whale tails.
