Definitely. I am going to skip the Geek Squad services, even though with my new Platinum reward zone status I can get it for free. I will probably use the guy from the AVS forums. But most of those on the forums are recommending 300 hours before calibrating, so I have plenty of time.

I have the 50inch plasma...love it(only at night), sucks during the day when there is sunlight coming thru the window blinds. Also make sure to download the panasonic app

No plasma will be as bright as an LCD for bright light conditions, even a brighter one like the new Samsung F8500s. I watch in a darkened room, and even at its brightest it is dimmer than most people's rooms. I bought a set of black light-blocking curtains that do a pretty good job of dimming even direct sunlight; the only thing that would improve upon them would be doubling up by putting a set of blinds into the window sill behind them. I will probably still do that some day; at that point, even the brightest days with direct sunlight would be nearly black.
