Although, some people actually did get that blue ray player at $137.50 and some of them even ordered after I did.

Are they sticking to their guns on the price?

They should honour the price that you saw and purchased at. Otherwise, that is false advertising.

I wrote them an email and so far have had no response. I've tried a couple of times to get through on their land line and all I get is a busy signal. In the acknowledgement they indicated that my credit card would not be charged until the players shipped. So I check my card each day, so far it has not been shipped.

When I ordered I requested signature service, so if I am unable to get the price changed I'll refuse delivery.

Sounds like Panasonic Direct does not live up to the latter half of its name.

After my privious post I did some reading on AVS forums and discovered that you can defeat the automated answering service at Panasonic if you say the word "agent" each time the machine asks a question. I tried this and sure enough after 3 repetitions of the word "agent" I was turned over to an operator with no waiting. Unfortunately, after getting my name, the live operator could only tell me that the sales department was busy and I would have to call back tomorrow. When I indicated that I was told last Thursday to call back today. Her reply came back in stilted English "try call back in maybe 3 hour from now."

About an hour of busy signals later I got through to the machine, got in the que, but had to hang-up after waiting 40 minutes.

For the heck of it, I got on line a few minutes ago to check my order status. It has not yet shipped but they have now changed the price back to what it was originally. Sometimes little victories make a person feel so good.

Even passive victories . . .

So far no signs of either. Looks like it's time to sit on hold for again.

We finished our Christmas shopping yesterday for our kids and grandkids (we have another Christmas in Illinois w/ my sister and her family. This year it is in January and we have not yet begun shopping for that.). For the first time, we purchased everything on line this year. Most of it we got from Amazon.com. It will be interesting to see if it all arrives ok.

I know what you mean. I don't have a huge issue shopping online, but doing so around Christmas makes me a bit nervous. I'm still waiting on an item that I ordered for Seajunior.

All of our Christmas shopping is done. We do not do any, so it goes pretty quickly.

That is a fine approach. I considerably scaled back this year, but I still buy for kids.

Just got off the phone with Panasonic. They are not expecting any more blu ray players like the one I ordered until Jan 2. As long as I get the quoted price, I can wait.

Ditto. Amazon has the player for $170, if you need it sooner.

I would not be surprised if the price fluctuates again before the end of next week.
