Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
After my personal experience with an n5150 and seeing the wide spread hp dv series video card failures and the way it was handled by hp I would never buy another one. As far as I am concerned hp owes every customer who bought a dv series a brand new defect free laptop in exchange for the pos dv series they were sold.
I would go with a clevo, There entry level models start at 1kish.

Psssst . . . Digital Storm . . . Pass it on.
Seriously, though, that really sucks. Good luck getting it resolved, one way or the other.

Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
The HP TX1420 tablet I paid 1200 died a year or two after I got it because of video card overheat, and it only have integrated graphics. HP on that whole model line refused to recognize a problem even though TONS of people were having problems. They later swapped to the ATI card and they ran cooler in the same series.

Well, for all the negatives about the Clevo/Sager keyboard layouts, they seem to be reliable!

oh yes the update:
Well HP never called back yesterday no surprise. So I gave them a call today. Unfortunately I can not return or exchange the laptop, according to them they have the laptop in production and it's not noted in their system as being shipped. So until their system is updated they are not able to do anything for me. So I asked them to transfer me over to their supervisor two minutes later I talking to a well spoken lady. She basically told me the same thing the other sales guy told me that my laptop is still in production and they have no record of the laptop being shipped. She said to wait 24 to48 hours she will call back. She said if I decide to get a replacement she will see if I can get the OS upgraded and an extended warranty free for compensation.
This sucks balls...

Not only that, but it blows ropey goat chunks!
While one person's experience can hardly be extrapolated to all others, nevertheless it does greatly reduce the already infinitesimally small chance that I would ever do business with them.

Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
Myself or ADOR may be interested in the spare 7950 if it isn't already otherwise accounted for.
And as far as the ac adapters go
There is a 3rd one hiding in the bubble wrap. I will have to test them to make sure they are good but I don't see any reason I would have kept them if they were not.

From the fedex website HP dv6t suppose to be here yesterday(2/22) and it's still stuck at US customs. I called HP they said they will hold it for 3+ days...Not HPs fault, I'm just lucky I suppose. Almost here.

Or is it? Who is "the customer" that requested non-express clearance? Are they referring to HP or mr. blur?
Re: My ALienWare experience or Adventure
Well Finally got it yesterday..
Iago you asked about bloatware, well it has bloatware everywhere. It's unbelievable, I don't remember my son HP hdx16 having this much bloatware. I didn't want to go thru the process of re-installing windows as I wanted to test out the porn sites.
So after 5hrs of creating my back up media. I was finally able to play around with it. I just have to say SSD is the shitzle. Here is the list of bloatware.
-hp setup mangager (I guess there are lots of folks that don't know how to add their network security).
-Microsoft trial
-Norton premier
-HP coolsense
-shopping services....
-Hp security assistance
-Hp movie store
-RATA movies
-hp application assistance
-Lo Jack protection - learm more - actual program really
-HP launch box
-HP connection manager
and wait there is more to lazy to keep typing.
I might just do a clean install in the summer, I just need to all my porn on it first. I'm starting to travel 1 week away from home at a time.
SSD shut down is less then 10 sec and start up is about 30 secounds(I think it takes that long because of all the bloatware)
