Re: My latest voodoo projects
So much for the lack of a 2nd hard drive cage in tha omen...
(Silverstone bracket, Allows the installation of 2 2.5" solid state drives in 1 4.5" bay)
I got 5 of these, 4 for the lower hard drives and 1 for the water cooling reservoir 5.25" bay. Now I just need some solid state drives...
I just wish that the inside chrome was polished around the posts, I guess I am going to have to do it. Overall they didn't do that good a job of polishing it. The design is good, The quality of the metal used is good but the craftsmanship is low.
This is the first silverstone product I bought, It it left me a bit disappointed. I will definitely be cautious of there products in the future and substitute lian li where ever possible.
For cases its a moot point because I always do my damnedest to inspect them at micro center before purchasing them online.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I am considering getting a new sound card for the omen. I will be using it for gaming, music, videos - The usual. I'm just wondering if there is anything on the market that you guys would recommend before I start looking at creatives current offerings.
Right now it would be driving my logitech 5.1's and my turtle beach x11 headset. Its not really a requirement at this point but it would be nice if it had a digital and hdmi out.
I am open to headset / speaker suggestions as well. I just got the headset but I have had the speakers a while now.

Seamaster is the can man, though I do not think that he has messed with gaming headsets.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I've used and still use a pair of Sony 7506 headphones for gaming . . .
For gaming soundcards, I'd stick with Creative. You can get better sound from the likes of Emu and M-Audio, but you will suffer a framerate hit using those cards. Creative finds a nice balance. And, as much as I value sound, I would not sacrifice framerate for better sound. Poor framerate = unhappy gaming.

Nope, no more so than speakers. No matter how high-quality the gear, it is limited by the transducers.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Just to let you guys know don't waste money on the corsair dominator ram cooler. It is noisy as anything, The mounting system leaves a lot to be desired. It did have nice airflow and fit over my patriot kit fine, I will give it that much. Its a shame, I had taken the time to track down a red one too thinking that it would make a nice addition to the omen-i7.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
I've got a couple of those too. I actually feel guilt-ed to use one, so I don't feel like I wasted money getting them.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
Its going on paperweight duty until I find a use for it. Its way to noisy for my omen (living room) pc.
Might be good for a server build or something where noise is not a concern. That is unless zalman sells a 3 pin fan resistor to reduce the fan speed, similar to the pwm one that came with my cnps9900, hmm something to look into.
Edit, actually they do. The zalman RC56 and RC100. I think I am going to order one and see how it works out.

Posts containing real-time, random thoughts are fun to read.

Time for a bump, We cant let this thread get burred so close to my acquisition of lago's rage case.
speaking of which is the back of your case like this:
or does it have the trim plate?
I am still finding new threads, pictures and projects in the most random places
https://forum.crystalfontz.com/showthread.php?4491-634-USB-in-a-Voodoo-Rage!
project aside now I know for sure that water cooling was offered on the rage.
It might be time to do my first water cooled build with red vains

Well, without Chow's duct tape and Magus's alchemical experiments, we only have East to pick on for potential disasters.

Agile was entertaining too, and his disasters often involved strange rashes.

True, but I was sticking with computer explosions, not the other kind.
