Yeah, I'm willing to give it a go. And I did a little research. It looks like the series was renewed for a second season, with HBO also placing orders for Seasons 3 and 4.

Finished Game of Thrones. It has some flaws, but probably less than a show like Boardwalk Empire. Loved it overall.

I would watch maybe a couple of episodes before digging into the Complete Guide to Westeros. It is written pretty carefully to avoid first season spoilers, but it has more information than you need at first. But once you are into the show it is pretty helpful for keeping track of the characters, plus the history of the various Houses comes in handy if you get lost on just who did what to whom.

I'll do that. Who did what to whom? Sounds intriguing.

I watched the first episode of Game of Thrones last night and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing where it goes. And like any good HBO show, it provides motivation to work out too.

Very cool, Photo. Pachelbel's "Canon in D" plays up and down the musical scale, which is part of the reason why it is so pleasing to the ear, but Bach's "Canon 1 à 2" truly does lend itself to moebius play.

Pachelbel's Canon is indeed the original mobius loop. I cannot stand the thing -- my music theory teacher in college just shredded it, since all that it consists of is a circle of fifths, which any first year theory student has to write.

That said, often simple is good. Think simple, good quality food using fresh ingredients versus overly processed and complicated food that comes off as pretentious. But I know exactly what you mean about "Canon in D".

There is simple, and there is passing off a first year music theory exercise as a composition. Just sayin' . . . (And a circle of fifths was old even in Pachelbel's day!)

Yet it is somehow one of the most popular wedding songs.

And to think you pick on bagpipe music!

The two-word phrase at the end of your post is an oxymoron.

Eve orignally wanted Pachelbel's Canon in our wedding, but I had to put my foot down on that one -- I told here that my theory teacher would literally rise out of her grave to kill me if I allowed it. (We opted for Michael Nyman and Vangelis instead.)

In hindsight, and given your warning, I wonder if Eve would have pushed the issue. BAG

Well, there was a counterbalance to that. Eve wanted a song to be played from a tape, and my mother, who is a lifelong pianist (and a good one, too) despises "canned" music. If we had done that, my mom might have killed Eve!

Depends on your definition. Compromise usually results in each party giving up something. A true collaboration has both parties gaining.

In a zero-sum game, in order to gain something something else have to give. Both parties can still gain, but both parties may have to give something up in exchange.

True. I'm just saying that compromise, in the strictest sense, puts the emphasis on each party giving up something to reach an agreement. Collaboration, on the other hand, generally emphasizes gain, which, yes, will invariably cost something.

Interestingly, in a two-party game, compromise can be achieved with only one person playing the game, and the other party oblivious. But collaboration requires both parties to be switched on.

Well, in a relationship I still feel that it is generally a zero-sum game (and I only use the term "game" since that is always attached to the zero-sum idea.) Take usually requires give. A true win/win is not exactly a collaboration; it requires a miracle!
