Nice! And a little bit of active turn-based (ATB) battle system and Duck Hunt to boot.

It doesn't look like any El Camino I've ever seen.

El camino is Spanish for "the road." The vans are examples of the type of van the Black Keys used to tour in or take on "the road" when they were first starting out.

The appearance of the Duck Hunt dog elevated the bit from the merely clever to the absolutely classic. That and dispensing with all of the third season in five seconds!

I also thought it particularly clever how they blew through the opening scene with Jesse, pausing only when Jesse said, "bitch."

The midi-esque version of the music rocked, too. Speaking of which, what are your views of the music in the show?

I generally think it's brilliant and fits the mood and tone of the series perfectly. One of the things I've noticed (and maybe it's just me) is that the music conveys the emotions and physical feelings that the characters are experiencing. For example, music that plays when the characters are stuck in the desert, fatigued and parched is often dry and brittle. Other times, the music takes on a steamy note when tension is high and adrenalin flowing. Then there are the quiet and dramatic passages to convey absolute despair, which we see often associated with Jesse.
Breaking Bad remains one of the few series where I have not had to forgive poor story writing, poor acting, poor sound design, poor music selection, or poor anything. The entire crew deserves applause because I think it is one of the strongest series in production.

Re: A Little Bit of Black Keys and Breaking Bad
Wait until you hit season three.
Seamaster: that is one of the great things about it. Any flaws are minor, and none of them are attributable to a single element being the issue. Like I said, even the sound design is amazing.
I was thinking about that in comparision to Boardwalk Empire. One of my least favorite things in the show so far is Michael Shannon's federal agent character. Shannon is a tremendous actor, but the character as written and performed is a walking cliche, and not even Shannon can make the character rise above that. Compare him to Saul's character in Breaking Bad; he SHOULD be nothing more than a cliche (the sleazy lawyer) but as written and performed he comes off as wholly original.

Give Shannon a chance. There is more to that character.

That may be, but he will still have the cliched history. But I am hoping that he improves nonetheless. I am still amazed at how Saul never feels cliched from his first moments.

The cliched history actually helps his storyline. That said, I'm not saying that you're going to like his character (I still don't), but it still provides for an interesting side story.

Well, we shall see when I get there. Breaking Bad season 3 has temporarily sidetracked me from Boardwalk. Plus, my Criterion Godzilla is on the way!

Over the weekend I watched Drive, Some Like it Hot and finished season three of Breaking Bad. Needless to say, I am going to count the minutes until the release of season 4!
