Voodoo Envy 133 Trouble Empty Voodoo Envy 133 Trouble

Hey Guys,

I've had a Voodoo Envy 133 for a little while here and just today I figured I'd install an SSD to make it boot faster (had the 4200rpm drive). I got the right drive, opened up the laptop (which was a pain), installed it, and put it back together, but I'm having a problem with the wireless. The wireless card doesn't seem to work, or, appears to be turned off (as if I were to disable it with the keyboard button). I push the keyboard button and nothing happens (the light remains off). Under the wireless options in Windows 7, it lists no wireless signals available, when I know there is. Then, when I look at it in device manager it has the Intel 4946 (a number like that, can't recall specifically) followed by something like link adapter. I can't remember if that's normal. Just wondering if any of you had any ideas as to what happened to my wireless. I presume I'm not plugging something in, but any ideas as to what I'm missing? I've taken my envy apart 3 times now.

Never owned an envy 133 but I can tell you out of experience with my x60 the fn key toggle for the wireless radio does not work unless the hot key software is installed. If I had to guess id say you forgot to reload it after installing the ssd.

I installed the original hdd (original working configuration), and I got the same thing. The wireless just doesn't want to turn on. Another thing as well is that the Bluetooth doesn't work (separate card funny enough). So now I'm wondering if I fried part of my motherboard or something like that, but I doubt it. The Bluetooth and Wifi are on separate sides of the board, and it's funny that the wireless doesn't work.

Oddly enough I fixed it. Something told me to check out the bios and reset it to default settings. Once I did that, the envy's wireless (both Wifi and Bluetooth) worked. Let me tell you though, the SSD has brought life to it, haha. Thanks for your guys help!

Indeed. But it's always a pain when the fn key won't work right.
