VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
Well, a sad day today. As I've probably mentioned a loong time ago here on the boards, my Envy133 had this problem with being loose from the hinges, and I tried to fix it today. Well, long story short, the screen broke with multiple cracks at the bottom. So I am looking for a new case if anyone still has one, I know it won't be easy to find... I miss that computer..
Also if anyone is interested in an Voodoo Envy M370 limited edition case let me know.. I think there are pictures of it somewhere on this board.
Good night folks, my mood isn't the best after breaking that screen..

Sorry to hear. I can't help you, but East, Ador, Blur or someone else might be able to help you source a new case. They have a knack for finding these things.

Ouch!! I hate to hear that! I replaced the palm rest for one of my envy 133s about three months ago or so. You can buy one from ft collins but they are expensive and you may end up missing one or two parts with them since they are parting the stuff together from what they got.. And on the price its what they have in the part. Like my palm rest was $110 or so and id think the base of it would be a heafty amount since its full carbon fiber....

Can you post a picture of the where the problems are. I'm confused if you talking about the back of the screen case or the base of it behind the battery.

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
Will post a picture later. The lid had loosened from the metal part of the chassis(the one the lid/screen is mounted to), and I tried to fix it by yaking it apart and epoxying it back on. When mounting it I managed to crack the screen multiple places at the bottom, where it says VooDoo. The lid didn't connect to the metal part either, so now the computer is pretty much unusable. I think I will need a new case and just put my parts in it...

I will keep an eye out. Is the part that broke plastic or carbon fiber?

Yeah I wish I was the bearer of better news lol. I was the same way when they said $110 for a palmrest and then an omfg the next day when Brett emailed me and said they were missing a metal bracket and he couldn't even change the price...... There is one way to save this envy by using it through external monitors. But defeats the purpose of it lol.

$561? Is it a computer part, or an alternator?

Lmao! I know! My boss's high performance alternator is only $476 for a new one! But the guys at ft Collins keep telling me they can't work on prices because they have to follow hp policy and sell the parts at THEIR ORIGINAL COST! They even quoted me $870 for a 64gb zif ssd!!!!! They only sell for $80 in this day and age!

OEM parts be it for a computer or automobile are almost always a rip off.

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
Sadly I think this 133 is toast.
I'd part it out (maybe on ebay) and buy something new, or source another working 133 and save these bits for it.
I know not good news.

Thanks for all the replies guys! It is really good to see all you guys posting, at an even higher rate than before on this forum!
It looks like I have all the options now, buy the full screen assembly(exatly the part I need), part it and sell it, or wait for a new envy133 on eBay and use my parts in it(I have the SSD 1,8 GHz one..). I will probably go for the last one, and keep checking eBay .
When I get it running again I think I will keep it in a safe place, it just means too much to me, hehe

Since you and me are the only ones on here with 133s we can help eachother out with parts. Btw do you have ssd already in it are the regular one? I installed one and it is not fast at all.The zif sucks as a transfer method.

I have the SSD version, the standard one..
I don't know transfer speeds and such, compared to desktop with Intel SSD it's slow, but compared to notebook HDD it is pretty fast..

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
I think I sold all my accessories off around the same time I sold mine, I'll have to check. I had just basic accessories though, batteries and PSU.
Sometimes I think it would have been nice to keep it, but I never really used it, ...and got an offer on it for more than I paid (2 years later).

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
There is a orange 113 on ebay right now. Think it is over 600 right now.
I have always wanted one myself. A while back on ebay I got an accessory pack from a guy who had his voodoo stolen. Disks, charger, other adapters put up for just incase later on.
A side question on the 133. The splashtop OS on it. Was it only software based or was it bios based.

Yeah, they were pretty expensive 2 yrs ago, I bought mine at that time, as I needed it for school . Hate to see them sell for less than 1K on eBay.

Voodoo IOS loader from the hp site? 157mb, maybe it is just needed to run it? I know you can get splash top in software only, going to have to download it and test it out when I get home. That is too much for out here on the rig.

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
I haven't had my hands personally on a 133 to know. I know they started putting it in the bios of some machines, and I know you can buy splashtop and install it on machines that don't have it in the bios.
Just some evil plan research I have. I mess with a lot of laptops, some that have close to the same specs. I think it would be cool if you could get the voodoo IOS on them.
