Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
The voodoo ios is locked to the bios. I already checked it out when the 133 came out.

The Voodoo Ios is set for the 133 bios and such. It isnt needed for anything other then just being an easy and fast web browser and basic utility space

Hell Im strecthing on the orange one because I love the color! Ibought my first two for $500 and $275 respectively! Both in working condition.
If I seriously had to put a value on one oft the standard black carbon fiber ones it would have to be around $390 to $500. Im basing this on the fact the most similar other laptop to it in my mind the Dell Adamo 13 (black onyx) sells for about 15-25% of that pricing.

Just some evil plan research I have. I mess with a lot of laptops, some that have close to the same specs. I think it would be cool if you could get the voodoo IOS on them.
Im fairly certain that the Voodoo Ios is set as a certain program setup for the mobo in the 133s. Because one of mine I have setup without the ios pops up with the message for the ios loader each time I startit up and I have checked in the Bios and its setup for the specific partion that the ios program creates.

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
I am telling you guys I played with it in VM and on real hardware. Getting the ios to run on other hardware is a no go. I actually wanted to put it on my omen desktop originally because im too lazy to wait for it to boot up.
If you had knowledge of programing and linux you might be able to make a custom loader / bios emulator for it. But even if you did that it may still not be compatible with your system hardware. You would have to load custom drivers for the hardware in the pc your running it on.

Didn't use that IOS thingy for long myself..
I've just started to rebuild the envy, not sure how it goes, but we'll see..
As stated earlier, the screen had cracked all the way at the bottom(where it says VooDoo), so I separated the screen from the lid. I then epoxied the lid to the hinges, without the screen on, and I will see how it turns out. Hopefully it will stay in place. My plan is to get a new glass plate or something similar to attach the screen to, and then assemble it like it was before. My expectations aren't high, but hopefully it will work and look ok.
If it turns out like new, I'll keep it, if not I'll buy a donor machine, swap the parts and sell it cheap.(I like things to look perfect.. )

I found you a water spill victim on ebay a while back that would have been the perfect donor.
Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
Yeah, I know, but I didn't think a full case was necessary back then.. Regret that now though

Re: VooDoo Envy 133 and some more...
Ok I can help you some here! First thing first your goin to have disassemble the whole screen assemly from the base and mobo. Then spend some time with an a high power auto polish on the carbon fiber parts to clean them up. and for the other plastic parts such as the screen id have to say a compound or a polish without any abrasives on it. Your going to want those both very clean!!
Now the important stuff! Your going to have to first find a way to stop the tension against the screen from the hinges. Which having it off will will allow you to mess with this and find a good medium which wont cause this.
While it is off and clean! for putting it back together I wouldnt go with an epoxy or a gorilla glue.
I would go for a low grade adhesive super glue that does not harden to a rock because that will cause more problems down the road. I would almost say a super slim double sided tape for it.
Im now noticing that your palm rest towars the screen has some damage as well.... That is not a good thing in terms of cleaning or repairing! I had to do one and its no fun complete hell how much has to come apart even more!
So I do see a somewhat easier option to this all! You could contact voodoo and buy a new Screen assembly and install it! But you cant get a new palmrest! I tried and they sent me parted thing that was the last one and it was still missing stuff! But I have the palmrest which I took off which isnt in super bad shape or anything if youd need it.

Wow, thanks for all the guidance! Hopefully it will turn out ok! There is no damage on the palm rests, it's just the light.
