Re: Somemore great music
That was not bad. It still does not erase Rumors, but still not bad.
Not sure what you will think of this, but here is Sonic Youth performing "Incinerate" from their excellent album Rather Ripped on the Letterman show:

Re: Somemore great music
You have to remember that the band that put out Rumors was very different from the band that put out the early albums. Really, the two just share the same name, but the two bands were completely different.
The Sonic Youth performance wasn't bad. I found it a little monotonous at the beginning, but they really picked it up toward the latter half of the song.
I could not find anything other than a fan video, but see what you think of this:

Not bad, but a bit too Latin for my tastes. On the other hand, like it or not you do stray into the vicinity of jazz periodically!
And yes, I do understand that Mac changed significantly. I was referring simply to the name.
Speaking of shifts, one of my favorites was what Eurythmics pulled with Be Yourself Tonight -- a shift from techno-pop to R&B, but still recognizably the same band:

AAAAAAGHHHH!
This song from Nena never got the play that "99 Luftballoons" got, but it has a helluva sax solo at the end (pardon the odd video):

I could not find a live video, so you are stuck with a static image of the album cover, but I always like the guitar and sax solos at the end of this song, even if, overall, the song was a bit dry:

Re: Somemore great music
Good assessment of the song. It ends well.
Speaking of parts of Roxy Music Songs, I have always loved the brief instrumental section between verses of "A Really Good Time." It reminds me of the Marvin Hamlisch music in The Spy Who Loved Me (another fan video, but I did not like the live versions that I found):

Roxy Music can be like that. Some of their songs have brilliant sequences that aren't carried throughout. Perhaps that is why "Tara" is so short? Talking of which, here is the version that should have appeared on Avalon (I love the violin solo midway through):

Re: Somemore great music
The guy playing the soprano sax is not exactly embarassing himself either!
Speaking of violins, here is an interesting live video of The Arcade Fire performing in an elevator with some "found" instruments (pardon the commercial):
Given your appreciation for Roxy Music, I really think that you might like The Arcade Fire. Win Butler does not exactly have a smooth voice like Bryan Ferry's, but like Roxy Music they are musically very inventive.

Interesting indeed. Not sure how long I could listen to them, but they are very creative. I will have to check out some of their other songs.
You didn't like the bagpipe version I linked to once before, but perhaps you will like this fiddle version:

Nothing can match Bon Scott not putting the slightest effort into looking like he was really playing the pipes!

Re: Somemore great music
Apparently Halifax Films has blocked that video in my country based on the grounds of copyright!
I know this is supposed to be a music thread, but the talk of bagpipes compels me to post this skit. Not sure if you are familiar with Rikki Fulton, but have a watch:

Iago: They should make that game and the public should embrace!
Youtube has apparently stopped working for me. Program will recommence shortly.
