Re: My latest voodoo projects
nice I'm ready to drop some dough on a np8150 with a ati 6990m. I sold my np9262 so now i'm looking for a new laptop I'm liking the alienware m14x easier to carry on the plane.
Hey East that's was my M855 I gave it to K-tron ass turned around and sold it, after specifically telling him the deal was he will not sell, but give it away if he doesn't fix it. I called him out on it at the notebookreview forum, never responded.
Also that was my pic at picturetrail I'm surprised that site still exists.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I snatched it on ebay before I made the connection it was yours. I just figured that since it was yours you would like to see that it was fixed with parts from a donor machine.
The only real issue with it is the volume wheel on the front is loose and does not make a good connection.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
yes it was dropped hard, voodoo at that time wanted to charge me 2500 to fix, motherboard and HDD. No thanks then they wanted to charge me 350 dollars to ship it back. So I let them keep it and then K-tron picked it up, but did not pay anything they just gave it to him in the condition he would fix it up.... Fail at all ends.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Despite the fall damage compared to some of my others its still in immaculate condition. You can rest assured that should I get rid of it you will have first dibs on it, And I can guarantee I wouldn't charge you anywhere near 2.5k.

I bought it on sale on steam because it looked good but its unplayable as the game save keeps corrupting over. That combined with the fact its a windows live game and it always takes about a half hour for live to load my account makes for one fail of a game.
I did not care for the earlier games, so I would not have even tried it. Still finishing The Witcher 2 to get it out of the way before D-Day, 11/11/11.

I received Fable 2 as a gift. I only played a little bit before giving up. The game lacks a proper story, and I love an involving story in an RPG.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I was rather enjoying 3 until It kept corrupting my save game. Granted it was not as in depth as other rpgs out there but it was still a fun game. Because of the bugs its a waste of money at any price though.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
after the M855 was being phased out, the M860 was released with the ATI 9700(me thinks). If I were to see this on ebay I might just have to bid on it.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Finished The Witcher2 and am now going back to an earlier save from Act I to make some different choices. All of Act II and part of Act III are completely different depending on your choices. Love it.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Choice in a game is a wonderful thing, especially when those choices have a real effect on the storyline.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
The choices in The Witcher 2 have a bigger impact than any other game that I have played. And many of them have no obviously "right" choice, which is the best kind of design. You have to make a decision near the end of Act III that has major impact on the ending, but since you are forced to make a sacrifice one way or the other you have to accept the consequences of the decision.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I never tried the second one because I got the 1st one and the controls were awkward. I am not sure if they improved it in the 2nd one.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
Actually, they improved them in the Enhanced Edition version of the first one. The controls work fine in the sequel.

I just got to looking through my bookmarks and I did find the thread
If I remember correctly I grabbed it for $30 buy it now within the first hour of the auction. k-tron included the repair log from voodoo but not the recovery cds or binder. The repair log is signed by Dave Dunbar which is kind of cool
Re: My latest voodoo projects
It was picked up by Dave Dunbar at voodoo pc's headquarters on behalf of our friend k-tron.
Dave did the painting for k-tron on his custom 709. I believe Dave also painted Raul's Impala.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
meh, that Impala, did it ever get finished? Last I saw of it; it was nicely painted, but moving to another facility for work.
Honestly, I kind of lost interest in the build when they went "primitive" on the air-ride system.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
I lost track when he stopped posting updates about it. I am guessing it was costing him too much money and he gave up.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
Although the alienware lcd I purchased is the correct lcd (spec wise anyway) the lcd data cable connector is in such a place that it makes it impossible to install it within the lid. I already secured the lid off of a w5f and will finish the repairs to the i222 when it arrives. I am hoping that the rubber screw covers are also present on the replacement lid as they are missing on the i222.
To top things off I placed a bid on an entire asus w5 series for parts for $0.99 since that seems to be the only way I will ever find the hinge covers. Also the seller claims its a core 2 duo (w5fm) so hopefully it also has the heatsink I need on it. I asked him about the chip as he also stated it has a pentium m. Either way im interested and am sure I will get my $0.99 worth. Hopefully I don't have to spend much more then that to win it. I know it has motherboard issues (broken dc jack at the very minimum) and is in extremely poor cosmedic condition (hopefully the hinge covers are intact, I will be rattle canning them gloss black to match the voodoo anyway) so hopefully not that many people will be interested in it.
Who knows maybe I will get lucky and get a working battery too. He claims that the battery does not work but can he really accurately evaluate it with a broken dc jack? I think not.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Well Its not a current project but I was cleaning off my hard drive today and I found an old picture of my athlon xp build from a number of years back.
Re: My latest voodoo projects
I remember when it was okay to do that with our cables.

Re: My latest voodoo projects
Not sure that I would describe that as origami cabling as much as I would describe it as colonic cabling.
