Re: My voodoo collection
Well, some of us do not hang out there. Do you remember the basics of the story?

Yowzer. Just looked at that thread. It would be interesting to see the side of the story other than K-Tron's.

Re: My voodoo collection
Personally I don't know. I found that thread a while back when googling for voodoo stuff before I found this place. I have been reading up in the Alienware M11x section on notebookreview and a regular in the panasonic section there and on toughbook talk.

Re: My voodoo collection
I knew I saw that one some where. Atleast I'm pretty sure this is it. I can't post external links yet. But if you google "voodoo envy painted" its about 6 rows down.

If you meant six pages down, here it is:

Re: My voodoo collection
i recall speaking to ryan about this...
poor dude, K-Tron... i feel bad for him... such young age, to invest so much money and heart into a project and to have it go so bad...
iirc, K-tron could not verify to voodoo if that was purchased from voodoo or not... hence lack of support/warranty from voodoo... or something like that...
as always, i'm oblivious...
hope he is doing well... kid's got talent... just at times, need to get his ambitions aligned with reality sometimes...

Hopefully age has provided some wisdom. That was a pretty crazy deal to get into that young.

Re: My voodoo collection
I messaged him on ebay to see if that was k-tron selling the voodoo and it was. This is the link he sent me to the latest project he has been working on. http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showthread.php?20011-quot-Foxy-Boxy-quot-Chris-s-1979-Detroit-Diesel-Powered-GMC-7000-Motorhome

Re: My voodoo collection
I remember seeing that notebook a while ago. I thought it was hideous then, and still think so today. Still, each to their own.
K-Tron certainly has talent, but he also portrayed a funny, off-putting demeanor at times. Seems to have butted heads quite a few times with folks. Half the battle in life is learning how to avoid butting heads.

Well, many of us have had to learn that lesson the hard way, myself included. But that was why I was curious about the "other side" of his leaving the notebook forums.

Re: My voodoo collection
I never really knew the exact story. Just that his mobo went after he got it back together and Raul claimed the paint was too thick around the vents and thats what fried it. I don't really see how they could not be able to verify he bought it from them or not. It sounds to me that voodoo just did not wish to stand behind it because they felt that the reason the laptop failed was the result of the way it was modded.
I helped him isolate the issue to one of the traces coming out of the northbridge and he was able to repair it but it was short lived. He ended up having to shell out for a brand new mobo.

Re: My voodoo collection
I have heard variations of that story. I was more curious about his profile on the notebook forums, which seems to indicate that he had a distpute with them as well.

Re: My voodoo collection
Judging by the direction of the thread, it's possible the notebook forums sent him warnings and asked him to stop posting remarks that could be seen as libelous. K might have gotten frustrated, feeling that his right to free speech was being curtailed and responded by pulling his posts. Who knows. Sounds like the entire situation got bad quick and kept getting worse on a number of fronts.
K must have graduated by now. Wasn't he going to RIT? I wonder where he ended up working.

East: remember that Seamaster is a Foreigner. He speaks a different tongue (and wears plaid skirts, but that is another story.)
I looked at the thread again and whether his complaints were accurate or not he definitely can still get into a snit.

Belay that previous comment. I looked at it more closely and it is the original thread that he did back in 2008.
