That was what really bothered me when the other incumbent made the racist crack about "Indian" casinos during the candidate night -- it irked me that it was not in the paper, but the reality is that it probably would have gotten him a few more votes!

That reminds me. We invented a varient for the poker game Baseball last time that we played. (If you do not know, Baseball is seven card stud with 3s and 9s wild, usually with an option to buy a card if you get a faceup 4.) The old owner of the Minnesota Twins, Calvin Griffith, was not exactly what you could call progressive, so we came up with Baseball -- Calvin Griffith rules: 3s and 9s are wild unless they are black.

A little birdie told me that the reporter did indeed hear the comment and others were contacted to verify if they heard the same thing, but the publisher declined to run it. It is always delightful to see that local journalism is just as dead as national journalism.

I emailed that link to the editor of the local paper and expressed my disappointment in failing to report it, and got this response:

Reading between the lines and without knowing the situation, one would think that the reporter is protecting Demulling. Scary.

Oh, there is no doubt. I provided all the materials that I uncovered about the board member with the criminal (and civil) record, and they said that they already had the information. They just do not want to do anything with it.

Clearly, they need to grow a pair.
