One of the incumbents even made a racially questionable comment regarding "Indian" casinos that I certainly thought was newsworthy. Apparently the reporter did not.

Well, it does show where my real competition is. Even without a huge turnout at the candidate's event, the message from that was sufficient for me to place ahead of all but one of the challengers, and even one of the incumbents. However, the other two incumbents are well, well known in the community, and they are going to be difficult to get past. My neighbor Carol is also going to be difficult -- she was the treasurer for Eric Severson's campaign for State Assembly, and she clearly got to know the right people during his campaign. (It is not just how many people that you know, but knowing the right people that really counts.)
