I am still torn. I would really like to keep the interior stock but the cable driven gauges are so crappy. Only other option would be to get a cluster out of a late model thirdgen that is electronic and swap all the gauge faces over to the electronic cluster. The speedo would have to be re screened though as the later model clusters read up to 120 (or was it 160) mph and the early ones only read to 85. (And mine reads in khm anyway so in order to make this a proper muscle car something has to be done with these metric gauges.). The interior on it is one of the really cool parts of that car. 82-84 interiors were styled after a learjet cockpit. I was even toying with the idea of a roll bar (not cage) at one point but I ultimately decided to keep the interior stock.

Out of curiosity, is the Firebird considered a muscle car or pony car?

That is a good point. A muscle car would be a big body with a big engine. This is a smaller body with a small v8. They did have the 73 2nd gen super duty 455 also a smaller platform so I am going to have to go with pony car.

I cannot recall anyone ever calling the Firebird a muscle car, so I would have to concur.
