This whole thread is making me flash back to some of those high school friends -- and not necessarily in good ways!

I spent a lot of time risking my life as a passenger in the "project" cars of those friends. Not all the memories are positive!

I am starting to get increasingly suspicious that he is not going to have time to do the welding for me this year. Hes still putting the vette back together and by the time he finishes he will probably be busy with the usual rush of winter collision work.

Oh well I suppose there is always next year.

Well, we all made silly mistakes in our younger years.

East: That's too bad. Shame you can't persuade him otherwise.

On a some what related note I bought it in for an oil change today and to have the e-brake adjusted and the car got me for $50 for a replacement drivers side ebrake cable. That is for just the part not installation. I went to the auto parts store but they had to order it. I am going to wait until the floor patching is done to put it in though. (The next thing I know they will accidentally sawzell the new cable in half)

The jacket on the old one somehow got chafed exposing it to water thus rusting what is suppose to be a moving part solid.

Odd, I didn't think that there was anything special about the way I said that.

You lost me with the "moving part solid." But I am easy to lose where cars are concerned.

To be honest, I'm a bit lost with that one too. I've heard of solid state and I know what moving parts are, but I've never known the two to go together.

You have a moving part. The casing that is suppose to keep water out (lets say paint to make it easy to understand) fails (gets chipped off) and water gets in rusting the moving part so that it can not move because it is binding up on the rust.

Got it. The construction of the original sentence threw me off. You mean turning a moving part into a solid part. Sorry; slow on the uptake this week!

Yep. I get it too, now. The water rusts the moving part, causing it to seize (or turn solid).

I would have just explained it as: ...like when a shifter or brake cable on a bike freezes.

But that would have resulted in a completely off-the-wall response about bicycling from Agent, so there you go.

Wow, People on ebay are idiots.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/factory-original-used-RECARO-front-seats-third-Gen-Pontiac-Firebird-Trans-Am-/330625990761

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pontiac-Firebird-TransAM-82-92-RECARO-RACING-SEATS-VERY-RARE-/330627086720

Even my ideal n's are in better condition then those. Granted mine need to be recovered too but the headrests are damn near perfect. They are just slightly discolored from the sun. It is so slight that I am probably not even going to touch the headrests, I will recover the seats and use the headrests as is. I will get some new belt guides though.

Dam, sounds like someone is trying to retire on that 2nd set of seats. I have seen whole cars go cheaper than that.

Still no news. The drive train is back in the c3 that he is finishing before he takes my car. The c3 needs to go to paint then he should be about ready for my car since the c3 has no interior to reinstall.

Time to resurrect this thread. The car will be going into the body shop by the end of the month. I spoke with my friend yesterday and we left it that I was going to check back with him around the middle of next week.

Edit, Just ordered the sub frame connectors. In the end I had concerns about ground clearance. I am going to run inners and outers. I picked spohn for the outers. I have to figure out which I want for the inners.
